My friend took out his cat and put in the lb7 down pipe,Will doing this burn up your motor? He plans on buying the "stick" but has to wait a while and does he need the egr block? Please let me know.

If anything, removing the cat AVOIDED toasting a motor.

I do not advocate removing smog control, but if you want to dial up the HP, your EGT's (which WILL toast your motor) will get out of hand. Removing the cat helps lower them.

He does not need an EGR blocker. If he gets one, he will need a finger stick to stop the coding.

:ro) Tell your friend that if he wants to tow say over 90 mph, he'll have to lunch the cat...

side note, will a 03 down pipe fit the 05 motor?

fannypack- Yes an 03 DP will fit an 05.

04llygmc- Sounds like a bunch of BS to me. As McRat said, it helped if anything.

I removed the cat put an other downpipe with the cat stuffings knocked out... improved mileage... and lowered the engine temps...kept the original downpipe just incase it would be needed sometime down the road.

I do think its a bunch of b.s. myself.But i had to ask, My dad wants to take his cat off his 05 now! Damn!!! should have kept my 04lly,oh well i do love the power my lb7 is puting out.
