Depends on driving conditions, your style, truck type: long box, crew cab, etc. If you're not in a hurry you can get good mileage. Unloaded at 60-65mph you should be able to get at least 19 mpg.

Watch out for programmers as you could lose what's left of your warranty. There are work arounds.

Yes. Depends on driving conditions. Even going 70 mph versus 75 mph on the highway i have seen a 1-2 MPG difference. If you are interested in a programmer, I have an Edge Evolution CS that has helped with mileage.

I HAVE A 2500 HD 4 DOOR SHORT BED WITH A 3:73 REAR END WITH A AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION . IT SHOWS ON THE COMPUTER 15.6 MPG. I DRIVE IT VERY CONSERVATELY AROUND 65-70 MPH. ANY SUGGESTIONS TO GET BETTER MILEAGE.
THANKS JIM

What size tires are you running? bigger tires will decrease mpg's. You may want to consider a dpf delete and a tuner. I'm running a quad s2. I keep it on the 90 HP tune unless I'm towing. Its definitely not the best out there but it works and makes OK power for the money spent. If you go the quad route you'll have to download the "no dpf" tunes to block the cel codes. As far as my mileage I get 16-17 mixed city/hwy and could be better if i'd drive a bit more conservatively.

I'm running stock 245/70/16. I've been thinking of a DPF delete and chipping the truck up but with the way the Ole girl has been treating me...why mess with a tune! My mileage will likely drop because of the tune or not make any difference, now the DPF would be different because of the Regen's so the mileage would climb again! I've got around 30,000 miles on her now and everyone says hang on it will get better as the motor breaks in some more. Not sure how much better it can get but I'll keep my warranty for now and wait and see what happens over the next 20,000 or so.

Just installed a Titan 52 us gal tank, 196 litres Canadian. Round trip to Sudbury, and driving within the area for another 250 km, got back home to Toronto and filled, 21.1 mpg cruising between 60 - 65 mph cruise control on when possible. Getting 16 city driving.

getting like 13.8 - 14.2 all the time, but it's all back roads and city driving, and I tend to put my foot in it a little sometimes, I don't get to drive it much so its a treat to do so ! :)

I was going to buy one of those Titan tanks, but those things are to dam pricey for my pocket book. 600-700 maybe but 1500 for me is a whole different upgrade .

I log every fill up (date, gallons, miles, cost) and then input them in a excell spreadsheet so this is 100% hand calculated. I do this mostly because I get paid mileage for work and want to keep track of the income from that. I puchased my truck in November of 2007 but here is are my MPG for 2009 and 2010 I have the 2008 data but have not averaged the complete year. In 2009 from Jan 1st till December 1st the truck was stock other than the Banks intake. In December of 2009 (71K) I installed to Quad and Magna turbo back exhaust.

2009- 15.63 mpg (42K to 73K) Average price per gallon =$2.66, Cost per Mile=$0.17
2010 -16.13 mpg (73K to 104.5K) Average Price per Gallon=$3.11, Cost per Mile=$0.19

I do have varible driving conditions. But this is mostly highway or back country driving in NY and PA. I have made a number of trips from Rochester ny to either Pittsburg or Corning NY this year. Only long trip was to Kansas City in Janurary this year. Last year the truck made trips to WV (4), ND, CO and Boston twice (Go Red Soxs).
Now I know that the Quad is a good tuner but definiatally not the best. I am looking to upgrade soon to hopefully obtain a little better mileage overall. Once I have time to research it more.
If anyone is interested in the monthly numbers I have them too.

Do you worry about your tranny on lvl 5? I have same mods as you except the FASS but I only go to lvl 3. Just wondering if it is safe to go that high for daily driving?;)

In a 2wd put in 3:42 gears you will see more mpg that thing has so much torque it won't bother towing shift the trans. that what gears are in there for. Speed brake from Fleece or whoever and it should go good. Might find used gear packs in salvage yards from a gasser 8.1s have them. nordstromauto.com in ND has alot of units. Just one way to get rpms down with stock tires.
