I found something in my 2003 service manual about the door lock programming that is something for the '05 owners could try for shutting off the automatic door locks. It lets you program the locks without using the DIC. If GM just did a quick hack to remove the door lock programming, they might have just removed it from the DIC and not changed this other way. It's something to try.
First you have to enter the door lock programming mode:
- Start with the ignition OFF.
- Pull the signal/multifunction all the way toward you and hold it there.
(Is this the turn signal lever?)
- Turn the key to RUN and LOCK twice.
- Release the signal/multifunction lever.
- You should now hear the lock switch lock and unlock, and the horn will chirp twice.
- You now have 30 seconds to program the locks.
(No, I didn't make this up as a joke! And you don't have to stand on your head, turn circles, or anything like that.)
You program the locks by pressing the lock or unlock switch one, two, three, or four times within the 30 second window.
- Lock, 1 time: Lock doors when transmission shifted into gear.
- Lock, 2 times: Lock doors when vehicle speed reaches 8 mph.
- Lock, 3 times: No automatic door locking.
- Unlock, 1 time: Unlock driver door when shifted into PARK.
- Unlock, 2 times: Unlock all doors when shifted into PARK.
- Unlock, 3 times: Unlock all doors when key removed from ignition.
- Unlock, 4 times: No automatic door unlocking.
If you turn the ignition to RUN the programming mode is exited. If you dont press any buttons during the 30-second window, programming mode exits and I don't know what happens if you didn't finish what you wanted to do.
