I have a 2001 2500 HD (Duramax/Allison). I noticed a vibration in the drive train. When I got to checking it out, I found the rear transfer seal was a little wet from leakage, no big deal. However, the yoke has what I think is too much play in it. I can move the yoke around at about 1/8 to 1/4". Im sure its the barring. My question is, Can I remove and replace the barring through the tail end of the case or do I have to take the case out. Any help will be appreciated. Someone can also call me. 573.433.4058

You will most likely need an output shaft bushing. It's pressed into the rear case-half, and unless you have the GM service tool, you'll need to separate the case to press it in and out. Depending on the condition of the slip-yoke, you may need one of those too. And of course a new output shaft seal. Worst case scenario you'd need the rear output shaft bearing.
