: Will I Beat a Titan?
jpru5112 07-26-2005, 06:35 PM My buddy has a '04 Titan 5.6L stock.
Will I beat him in the 1/4 mile with the Edge on Level 3?
I don't want to go past Level 3 with a stock Tranny.
How should I set the Defuel?
GMC2500HD 07-26-2005, 06:39 PM You will kill him... As far as the defuel someone else will chime in on that one.. I think for once if you launch correctly you can go higher than level 3 but not advised to run constantly.. But in this case just to make a point... LOL
Max Power 07-26-2005, 06:43 PM You should beat him but I would bump it up to 5/5 to be sure. If you don't build boost to launch he will get a pretty good jump on you until your turbo spools up.
Titan 5.6L Time
(seconds) 1/4 Mile Time 7.35
(seconds) 1/4 Mile Speed 15.93
For defuel run defuel on all locked shifts. That is the safest
jpru5112 07-26-2005, 06:47 PM If I ever get my f*$#ing tie rod sleeves I'm going to try a 4HI launch.
Max Power 07-26-2005, 06:48 PM Be carefull launching with too much boost. You'll do more damage to the transmisson with a high boost launch then you will running level 5/5 on the edge in my opinion. Keep the boost below 10lbs and don't hold it any longer then you have to.

I'm not going to limp the tranny on level5???
Max Power 07-26-2005, 06:53 PM I never did. The edge should defuel in fifth gear enough to keep it from limping. Unforunately you will be slipping the transmission a bit so it is still not advisable. You could probably safely run level 5 until just before it hits 5th gear then bump it down to 3. Either that or lock 5th gear out and only race until 70mph or so.
I personally never worried about it because I always knew I would upgrade my transmission down the road anyways. I am pretty confident that you could run level 5 a few times without too much to worry about.
Dmax Tim 07-26-2005, 10:18 PM Run 3 or 4 and defuel 4-5 shift.
If u only go 12-1400 rpm on the line it will help the launch and not cause undue wear on the tranny.
I'd put it level 5 and drive to the track doing some hot rodding, that way once your there and bump it down it'll shift decent for u.
Don't do any 5th gear roll-ins in level 5 or u may/will limp it.
Have u raced before?
Is this on a drag strip w/ tree?
If so leave when the last yellow comes on to cut a decent light, u can adjust to fine tune but if u wait for the green you've lost a 1/2 second.

It's on the drag strip.
Yes I have raced at the track before, just not in my truck.
ratlover 07-27-2005, 10:45 AM What Dmax tim said. level 3 or 4 IMO low boost fueling to level 5, turn the EGT backdown OFF! You will kill him. some were alright in level 5 some not. I was at the track when a guy tried 5 for the first time and limped it part way through 5th. Some run the piss outa it in 5 and are ok. hate to have you lose becasue your trany throws itself into limp mode when level 3 or 4 would do the trick. I'd just set the juice in level 4 and run around with it like that daily unloaded.
ratlover 07-27-2005, 10:46 AM ummmm....didnt see you had an LLY, not 100% sure about what power levels are safe for one but the low boost fueling and turning EGT fueling off are still right IMO.

What is low boost fueling?
ratlover 07-27-2005, 11:17 AM a setting on your attitude, it adjust when the juice starts dumping fuel. The higher the number will make more smoke off the line and also improve response.
radvans 07-27-2005, 03:14 PM I have an lb7 and h-tech on lv3 and I easily beat a Titan. I didn't have to build hardly an boost, just till about 900rpm.
I know its not the same truck or programmer, but my understanding is the edge is more powerful, so you should have no problem.
Morse 07-27-2005, 06:09 PM If you don't run the truck hard all the time, do level 5 with no defuel at all.. As long as you lower your torsion bars down all the way, you can boost up to 1800 with that power and you'll be fine.. I did hard launches for quite some time before upgrading.. That was every thursday night for months.. I never did the tierod sleeves, and boosted to 1800-2000rpm on 35's and ran 13's.. Turn it up, boost a 4x4 launch, and run a 14 second quarter mile... Down goes the the gasser....
Scotty Seelen 08-09-2005, 12:18 PM Titans run about 15.4-15.5 1/4 times. It might be close with the LLY Edge w/Attitude on level 3.

Haven't been able to get him to the drag strip yet. The longer he waits the worse it's going to be for him. New exhaust system and tie rod sleeves on the way.
vtpoolman 09-06-2005, 03:20 PM i wouldn't worry about the titan lined up with 2 of them so far first on i had a 800lb pool table in the back of the truck and ran on van aaken 110hp tune on lb7 and beat him. the second titan turned vanaaken up to 230 and didn't do a boosted launch and left him no problem.
