I had considered mounting it in the ext. cab portion of my truck, but I was wondering if there are any legal/safety/rulebook issues that I must follow? If not I guess dead center in the middle of the bed will work, I just have to yank it all when I haul bikes, so in the cab is more appealing. Any feedback appreciated, thanks, Ben.

I placed mine facing forward partly under the rear seat passenger side a close to the door as possible. It is held in place by the front passenger seat and rear seat. Will post a photo soon.

If in the cab, the pressure relief must be vented outside the cab.
I have mine sitting against the front of the bed (crosswise) with the valve at the right side of the bed over the drain hole.

You need to have the bottle mounted so the butt of the bottle is facing the rear of the truck - parallel with the frame with the valve pointing towards the engine.
This way under heavy acceleration the liquid in the bottle is in the right place for the internal pick up tube. It will WORK if it's transversely mounted - but only with a full bottle and it's not recommended at all for obvious reasons.
A smaller 10# bottle would fit in a crew cab pretty well, and if you have an ext cab there is still room if you don’t mind tweaking things a bit.
You should really mount your bottle inside the truck with an NHRA required external blow down tube for these reasons.
1. Heat from direct sunlight will raise the pressure too high
2. Someone might jack the bottle or just mess with it
3. You really don’t want dirt/water/grit anywhere close to the nitrous fittings
4. You have to get out and climb into the back of the truck to open the bottle.
As far as legality is concerned! It’s illegal to have the bottle ‘open’ on public roads. You can have it all hooked up and ready to go but if a cop pulls you over and the bottle is open/pressure registering on the gauge you are busted.
If you mount your bottle inside, you can hide most of not all of the nitrous system for various reasons.
Hope this is helpful for you.

Jeremy

toolbox is where I mounted mine.(I have 2 bottles)also get a remote bottle opener its great not to have to open the toolbox and you save all the room on the inside if you have an ec.

I've seen guys mount one on either side of the bed just inside the tail gate. That way the extra weight you are carrying helps with traction.

Use an actual set of brackets to get it tipped at the right direction. You have to have a blow down to be legal via the NHRA
