I have a K&N airfilter and have been advised to pull it out of my truck and smash it into a thousand pieces. That being said, can anyone recomend a solid air filter to replace the K&N. I have heard FRAM and Penzoil. Not sure of the best. Thanks - 2002 Duramax 6.6

Fram and Pennzoil are the same. I'd go with AC Delco or Napa Gold with the Kennedy airbox mod.

The reason people say not to run K&N is because it lets a lot of particles past the filter.

If you have a factory air filter box (and are using a drop in filter) Amsoil EA Air filter (http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?Code=EAA123&zo=1747262)- it is a drop in replacement. If you are running a cold air kit, I can get you an equivalent KN replacement. Regardless- both are dry filters that are WARRANTED for 4 YEARS/100,000 miles. Easy clean up and back in the truck!!!!!! PM for questions, info, or you pay what I pay pricing!
