I'm getting ready to put a boost/pyro guages in my truck. Based on all the reading here have narrowed it down to the Autometer UltraLite or Lunar.

My question - anyone here have experience with the Lunar - did you like the lighting?

Also is there a separate sending unit that has do be installed with the Lunar pyro. My impression is that there is no separate sending unit with the UltraLite but can't tell about the Lunar.

Any help and input greatly appreciated!:thankyou2

Look wise, I've not seen the Lunar.. I have ultralites myself. All gauges should be the same, unless they are full blown electronic/sender or mechanical. Only difference between all the different styles are the face plate/bezel.

maxno2,

The difference is the Lunar line uses stepper motors to operate the needle, more accurate, and faster response time. New technolody etc as compared to air core movements etc, it's what they use on all their Lunar, C2, Cobalt and Nexus lines. No seperate sending units are required at all. Give us a call we stock all the Auto Meter gauges and mounts. Call us if you have any questions etc.

i like the night light on the lunar much better than the ultra light. but the lights are different, lunars are like an led or something to that effect, if it goes out you as in yourself cant fix it. on the other hand the ultra light is just a plain jane bulb that is easy to change.

moss022,

The Lunar's use a "Green Electro Luminescent" dual that operates thru a static connection to the dial face, kind of like their stepper motor operation way high tech etc.The C2's and Cobalt's use LED's to light the dials for even more high tech etc.

i have a faze pyro and love the way it lights up, dont know much about it but i wish they had a fuel pressure guage that would only read up to 15psi. the lunar guage seems darker than the faze too. good stuff any way you go

Moss-
Where did you pick up the faze qauge? I like the looks of them although I can't tell if they make a boost only (without vacuum).

i have the lunar gadges in my truck and i like them so much better then the older style with the bulb. the led in the newer auto meter gadges is so much brighter then the bulb style
