: Help finding dimmer circuit

I recently bought and installed a homelink console in my truck. I repositioned the hot wire so that the unit always has power. The last thing I want to accomplish is get it tied in to the dimmer controls. Right now, the 3 buttons light up briefly when I open the door, then gradually fade out in a few seconds. They are completely dark when the headlights are on and don't respond to the dimmer switch. I'd like the buttons to function as they do in our 02 Suburban- light up when the headlights come on, with brightness controlled by the dimmer switch.

There are 3 wires going into the homelink unit- red, black and grayish with a dark stripe. I've searched the forum and read that there is a separate dimmer circuit for LED lights, and I'm assuming that's what's in the buttons. I've also read that some say the ground wire controls the dimming function, although I don't really understand how that works. Perhaps the circuit that controls the brightness of the buttons in the doors would be the one I'm looking for.

I have an 04.5 LLY. I'd appreciate any help:
1. Locating a circuit that dims LED lights.
2. Determining which of the 3 wires going into my homelink I need to splice in to.
3. The best way to accomplish the splice.

Thanks.
