I'm having several problems with my 01 GMC 1-ton. It has the six speed tranny, edge juice w/ monitor and a K&N filter/intake kit. It has 86,000 miles on it. And here come the questions.

1) I keep getting P0236 faults which I think are overboost faults. The dealership said it was a clogged air filter so I added a K & N filter. Now I still have the 236 fault plus a P0101 fault which I think is the MAF sensor. How do I get rid of the 236 fault? I have cleared it w/ a tech II several times but it keeps coming back.

2) I have cleaned the MAF and have checked the hose clamps. Any other ideas for keeping the code clear?

3) Clutch is starting to feel real week. What is the difference between the SMF and the DMF.

4) I seem to getting fluctations in power even when the codes are not set. Any ideas to investigate would be helpful.

5) I need to take the truck into the dealer for an idler pulley that is bad. What do I do with the monitor if I take the edge off? The pyrometer will be in place still and the monitor is mounted in special setup that is very slick but requires the dash be disassembled to remove.

Generally I use the truck to pull a gooseneck trailer. The empty GCVW is 16300 lbs. I routinely see between 22500 and 28500. Generally the edge is set on the #1 CARB setting and #1 for mileage. I never see above 22 lbs of boost at this setting. Is that correct? I do max out the boost gage at 25.6 if I run at level 5 but I rarely play b/c the egt's rise so quickly. I have the egt alert set at 1200 so it starts to defuel slightly before that.

I am getting a little frustrated and could sure use some clear advice.

1st off, Welcome to the forum! Most of the answers to your questions can be had by using the search button. Where are you located? Someone here may have a dealer they like and recommend in your area. Don't worry too much about your Edge/Attitude, just unplug it and let them run their test. They have to prove that the module was the reason for any other failure to deny you any warranty work. There are some long threads about air filters and air filter tests. Make a pot of coffee, you could be reading for a while. Your fluctuations in power could be as simple as a fuel filter, the maf being clogged by the K&N filter oil or in the worst case, injectors. Your injectors fall under the 200K mile warranty. Again, welcome to the forum and try to do some catch-up reading. Add some more info about you and your truck and you will receive lots of help.

Got Juice?

What version of the Juice and attitude do you have? Earlier ver#'s would throw 0234 codes like they were going out of style at part throttle while towing.

I still get the odd 0234 code, but i think it is a case of the Juice not 'sampling' the MAP values fast enough... The Turbo setup I currently run tends to 'ramp up on boost' very rapidly.. and at less than WOT it can trip that code.

Swiss cheesing your airbox will help alleviate some of the 0234 problem, but a word of friendly advice? Ditch the K&N. The oil can and will contaminate the MAF sensor contributing to a host of driveability and fuel economy issues.

Welcome to the Forum

Thanks, for the advice and I've read most of the threads about K&N filters(unfortunately it was after the purchase), the codes, and big head waste gates. The problem is that I've tried the recommendations in those threads w/o success. I've cleaned the MAF sensor, checked the hose clamps, and changed the oil filter w/o any success.

Here is a new problem. Last night I was pulling the last hill before my house w/ a combined weight of 20k when the truck did something weird. I was pulling in 4th gear at about 2600 rpm when the truck suddenly stopped pulling at the rpm's fell to about 2000. Is there a limp mode on manual trucks? I drove the next mile (barely) to my gravel road. I shut the truck off and restarted it and everything drove fine. Can anyone tell me what I overloaded? Thanks. BTW - this is one of the best forums I've ever visited. You guys are funny and very polite.

I'm driving my car today. I will check the version number tonight when I return home. I shouldn't need to swiss cheese the air box b/c the kit came w/ the tube and leaves the filter exposed. I've had 234 codes as well.

I agree with Juice. A stock air box, swisscheesed with a delco filter is more than enough and stops the most dirt.

I would pull the entire set up off(edge) and tell the dealer you are in the process of installing a pyro gauage if they ask about the probe. Yes they have to prove the edge was at fault but they my screw you for future warantee claims. ESPECIALLY THE FLYWHEEL! Does it do any of this stuff with the juice disconected? Edge is really good about updating thier stuff for free, you just gota send it in, if you have had it for a couple years then you should get the updates. If your edge box has a funny little box deal hanging off the main edge box then send in your attitude also. You may also try pulling the bale conectors on the edge and making sure all the pins in the juice and the motor side are nice and tight and you dont have one thats gotten partial pushed in or anything.

I finally remembered to check the verison. When the attitude comes on it shows version 1.5. What is the newest version and could this be causing a problem?

KCT..look on the Juice module, too. The version number for that is usually on a white label on the side of the module.

OK, I will try to get a look at it tonight if I can get all my chores done in time. Vacations are nice but they sure leave a lot of work to be done when you return.

I looked on the juice module it was version 4.81i. How current is that version and does it have any flaws?

BTW - Does anyone know why I can't monitor eng temp w/ the attitued?
