Still looking at getting into a 2008 2500HD, but had some questions. Pickup has 65,xxx miles on it and it's in good shape. However, it's out of warranty, but I thought I read somewhere that the injectors are covered up to 200K. How does that work. If they ever go out is that covered 100% by GM or is one of those things that they can weasel out of. I've heard injectors are pretty pricey and that concerns me a little because this would be my first diesel. Does the dpf or emmisions ever need servicing? Just trying to find a few things out before I make an offer on it. Thanks.
covered for 5 years OR 100k(160 kilos up here)….if they fail due to a manufactures defect gm pays, if they fail because of lack of service, water, etc, you pay. diesels are very expensive to repair.

the injectors are covered by the 5 year 100,000 mile power train warranty. Only the lb7 injectors have the 200,000 mile warranty.

I'm wondering why at 65K the truck is out of warranty. Has the truck ever had a tuner on it? The dpf and the other emmisions are maintenance free in the sense you don't have to do anything special other than drive the truck to clean the system out.

Best thing to do to minimize injector and pump replacement is to install an aftermarket fuel filter / water separator / pump such as FASS or AirDog. Yes, it is an expensive add on but get a quote from dealer on pump or injector replacement and the preventive end justifies the means IMO.
search FASS or AirDog, tons of threads.
according to early posts on the DPF, it is engineered to last 120k-150k. Conveniently just out of mfg warranty. ;)
Quote the dealer again but they are pricey (1500ish as I recall).
Since KS does not test emmisions at this time, when mine fails it will be replaced w a straight pipe. keeping the 6.6 basically the same though model years makes the aftermarket much easier :)

He was probably referring to the basic 3 year or 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. He should have some piece of mind his injectors are covered under the 5 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.

Sorry, I meant to say the 36,000 warranty. I had forgoten about the 5 year/100K powertrain warranty. So other than the LB7's the injectors are good to 100K it sounds like. If one fails and it's not under warranty, what is the replacement cost at the stealer?
