Well I got back last night after driving to LA to see the "sheep man". Left at 5:30am, got back at 8pm, 750 miles round trip. Well worth the trip. Ran the whole trip with the Edge set for 1/1.
On the way down from the SF bay area (375 miles) the tranny temp ran at 190 doing 75mph, flat ground ambient at 80. Hit the grapevine hill and the tranny temp was up to 200 by the time I got to the top. Engine temp was 195. Ambiant temp 85.
Mike did his magic, he wouldn't let me help. That was probably a good thing. I could not beleive how easy it was to put in. You read that stuff but one has a bit of hesitancy in believing it. This thing was well thought out and manufactured even better. Brackets are even powder coated. A very professional kit. Everything fit perfectly.
Now for the trip home. The temp in LA is now 95, and I am in the middle of stop and go traffic in a construction zone. Tranny is still warming up. As I start up the northbound side of the grapevine the ambiant temp is at 100, tranny is now at 165. Half way up the hill I hit another construction zone, and they are dropping 2 of the 4 lanes, 6 miles of stop and go with ambient at 102, tranny is at 170. I am now out of the construction and heading up the hill at 70mph with the ambient at 103, tranny is at 170. When I crested the hill tranny was still at 170.
As I start up the valley ambient has now climbed to 107 and the tranny is at 165-170. I am driving at 75mph.
I am impressed. This cooler does EVERYTHING that Mike said it would do. And I think a little better.
During the trip home the ambient temp went from 95 up to 107, but the tranny never climbed higher than 175, even going over the grapevine.
I will be doing an RV trip the 3rd week of August and will report what happens, since I will be going thru northern CA, and it will be hot there.
Job well done Mike L.
