I have the automatic, split system. I have noticed this sound for years, but ignored it. It used to be only occasionally, during a long highway trip in HOT weather that I would hear a click, click, click, rhythmic sound a little faster than once per second. Lately, it seems to be happening almost all the time, and maybe it is getting louder but maybe we're all fixated on it. It is enough to be irritating, even with the stereo on, and I'd like to know how to fix it.
I know it is connected to the HVAC system because it will instantly stop if I completely turn off the HVAC. It is independent of fan speed, engine speed, highway speed, etc. It SEEMS to be coming from near my feet, driver's side, maybe lower center console. Very hard to localize this noise.
Any help troubleshooting this is very appreciated.

Actuators are over traveling . . There is a TSB to reflash the computer to resolve it.

I learned about it, thanks to this forum . . . my stealer was insisting on replacing the actuators.
