I don't have 5s but i have 6s can't imagine there would be much difference other than looks. Anyway I think they sound awesome and I am the type of person that can't get it loud enough though if you are worried about sound in the cab you would probly want a muffler in the system somewhere. If you are interested in pics and haven't seen any on the forum let me know, i'll direct you to them.

I recently bought 48" long 5" stacks with tip outs. Still trying to figure out what to do for a cross pipe and down pipe.

I put a piece of 3X8 steel tube in the bottom and welded legs to it and fastened it to the bed. I have 1 4 inch inlet that comes up into the tube. I put a piece of angled steel in the tube to split the smoke and angled the ends of the tube to force it up into stacks as smoothly as possible.

i used a 5x5 tube on mine and welded 2 5inch pipes on the ends after capping the end of the square tube ,then added brackets and bolted to bed on the bottom put a 4 inch tube on bottom and ran it down thru bed hooked into my 4 inch system with elbow then put 2 48inch pipes on love the looks and sounds awesome!! i get alot of compliments on them too which also adds tothe wow factor. i will have the wife add pics tonight when she comes home as i dont know how

very simple on mine. A 90 degree up to bring it through the bed and a T pipe that rests inside the bed. From there two straight pipes to each side and another 2 90 degrees up for the stacks.

How many of you still have the stock exhaust from the turbo to the stacks? Did any of you use a muffler? My last concern is whether or not to upgrade the 3.5" stock pipe and if I need a muffler. I love the straight pipe sound out the back thru a 4" tip, just wondering if stacks will make it louder in the cab?

I will test fit them in the bed and take some pics later. I think I will go with a rectangular steel pipe. My max width is 7" (between hrack and top side box). Maybe a 3"x6" or 4"x6"? Also, how high is too high above the cab? Top of hrack is 3" above cab. Any suggestions? I don't really want the cut the pipes shorter, but I also don't want it to look out of proportion.

Thanks!

mine is straight through, no muffler or cats. It's really not loud at all if you compare to straight pipes on dodges or fords.

I had stacks on my truck for awhile, but took them off for the time being because I didn't have all the right equipment the first time and I was also running the stock exhaust from turbo to T-pipe. What I plan on doing is saving some money for a 4" front pipe and straight through muffler and using steel tubing rather than exhaust pipe for the T. I had mine straight piped for about the first day until I put the muffler on.

I have an hour and fifteen minute drive to work every day, so the straight pipe was very annoying for that long, but my truck is also a regular cab and makes a huge difference... the pipes were only about 10" from my head in the cab, so if you have a extended or crew cab it will be much quieter.

I did love the low EGT's though and turbo whistle though!

I just installed a 5" dual stack kit from Grand Rock. Looks great and gets alot of looks. Sounds real good from idle and thru the gears but a little loud when I floor it. I'm a little worried about the 1200 mile drive I have to make to NM this winter with the noise. I got 36" stacks and I'm probably gonna cut 4-6" off so they don't stick up over the cab so much.

There's someone with a Dually with stacks on one of these threads and it looks like he cut them down a bit. I'm gonna try to find out how much he cut cause they look pretty good.

I think I'd asphyxiate my horses towing them with those things. They do look cool though. I agree that cutting them down would give them a more proportioned look.

I'm running 5in stacks from Grand Rock. Great kit. Its not much louder in the cab then a 4in out the back. But its much louder when your getting after it. They turn heads and work great. Would send pics but I can't figure out how to fit them to specs.
