How long are you guys having to wait for the dealer to get you in? I recently threw a #6 glowplug code, and took it in today to try and get all 8 replaced under warranty. They told me the soonest they could look at it would be 13 days from today. Is that in line with what you guys have seen, or should I take my business down the road?

Take it down the road. My dealer gets me in right away.

Mine is an LMM and threw the #4 code a few days ago. I brought it in today, but the diesel tech wasn't in, so I'm booked in for Monday at 8:30, can't really beat that!! I hope they replace all 8, not just #4.

For your situation, I would definitely take it down the road.

13 days...wow, at my dealer its normally less than a week, we are busy to, its a great sign that they have some good people there. they should also look at hiring more if its a treand to better serve customers, if room allows. Little known fact is that less than 18 percent of a dealers mechanical work is warranty work(at least in canada, cant see it being much different in the u.s.), so that means most of it is people wanting to spend thier money on retail brakes, repairs etc...

I just dropped my truck off last night after they closed. They called me before noon today and told me they would have them replaced by Monday and for me to pick it up Monday afternoon.

Ever have that feeling that you're about to be raped with no lube? I was really busy so I just waited on the local dealer instead of taking it 40 minutes to the nearest other dealer. The service manager (let's call him Captain A-Hole) was in full a-hole-ness. I asked if they knew about the TSB to replace all 8 if one is bad. He's like "yeah right, let's come on back and look that up". You could see his face falling as he read it. So then he tells me, "well, that means nothing. You don't just go in and replace glow plugs, we've gotta do all the diagnostic first".

I told him I of course knew that, no problem, and that I just wanted to make sure he knew about the TSB if in fact the plug was bad (I was trying to appease him here, how could it NOT be the glow plug when the trouble code says it's the glow plug???). And he keeps going on and on about how I can't just march in here and start telling them what to do and demanding stuff be replaced (Which I never did, I actually just mentioned the tsb after I was all booked in with another service adviser, just as a side thought right before I left). So to get him calmed down on that I asked when it would be ready. Wrong move. "How should I know. You saw the troubleshooting procedures. We've gotta do allll that first and who knows how long that will take. And if the tip is broken off, god that'll take forever". Even asking how long it would take ASSUMING the tip isn't broken got a "no idea, can't tell you something I don't know".

If it's not in the shop being fixed tomorrow I'm picking it up to fix myself and will attempt to not punch him in the nuts.

service manager sounds like a A$$HOLE! I wouldn't take my truck there if the:rockit:y did them for nothing. Last time i had a problem w/service man i got pissed yelled a lot before i knew it the owner came out told him i was pissed off he took care of my problem gave me 2- 25.00 gift certificates to a itallion resturant. Just make sure you yell real loud in the service area waiting room when a lot of customers are around.Make sure you know what you are talking about! Don't take any bull from service manager he's not the boss get right to the owner. If that dosen't work go online and put a complaint to GM always works GM calls you back when you complain about dealer service! Just get a little mad when these guys talk down to people like they know it all and we're stupid! most service managers don't even know what a diesel engine looks like or how it works!

Whew. It was ready at 8:30 this morning, all 8 replaced, and all done under emissions warranty, so free to me. I must say I'm looking forward to the GM Customer Satisfaction survey to come in the mail, though.
