Got a set of (used) pistons that someone had media blasted to clean. Found some minor imperfections in the bowls and surfaces.

If these are being cut and coated, will these be ok?

I wouldn't use them in a big hp build. I'll let the experts chime in.

What would Big HP be?

I don't know that it matters, can stock pistons hold up to big HP? Say over 500 expecially if they are already pitted.

Did they sandblast the whole piston? Or just the crowns? If they sandblasted the whole thing, especially the skirts, I wouldn't use them in any build. Maybe I'm too anal but I personally wouldn't blast pistons to clean them. There are much better ways to clean them.

I wouldn't run them. I would consider those ruined.

Did you get them from BADDZL03 (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/member.php?u=53126) ?

?

That sucks... If it was that thread, I was going to post up that they weren't probably "ready to be de lipped" or able to be run at all, but I knew he would be a little cry baby and just get my post edited/deleted. I made him a reasonable offer for a ruined set of pistons because I wanted them for my machinist to use for mock up/trial machining. There's a reason no one was buying them...I would request your money back honestly...

Sure did. Maybe a little too much trust on my part. I assumed once they were cut and coated it'd be ok, but seeing these in person I'm having some serious reservations.

Call him out on it I guess. Worse case my machinist might be interested in them for more "playing". Or if you get another set and are going to have a local machinist de lip yours might be handy for them to have these to test on.
