The ones you get from the dealer generally have the ring kinked so I just use a little grease and the keeps i suctioned into the o-ring slot.

x2. grease or vasoline, then try and apply pressure "square" to filter mount. good luck.

The NAPA 3960 stays right in place when you put it on. I just put a little bit of oil on it and push it down into it's slot. Stays put while the filter is being screwed on.

I got it. I was using a racor filter. A little stretch and some diesel did the trick. Also doing it during the day helps too :)

Parker Super O Lube (http://www.manuf-rubber.com/superolube.html) works great .. it's a tacky silicone based o-ring lube .. silicone grease works too but not as tacky as the super o lube .. I use the super o lube on the o-rings and silicone grease on the filter and WIF threads .. The super o lube or silicone grease is good for oil filter gaskets too .. it doesn't get absorbed into the rubber gaskets and the filter always comes off easy when changing out..
