: Chrome Tube Steps.. Which ones??

As the subject says.. I'm looking for some chrome tube steps and not sure which ones to get.. I know the stealership sells them for $450 installed but I've seen drawtite, Westin and MAAP/NERF. The cheapest I've seen shipped is Westin for $450. If these are the cheapest shipped that I can find/get.. why not just get them from the dealership for the same price??

Any input/suggestions and/or pros and cons?

Thanks

I bought a set of Westin Signature Series bars for my truck. They are just the regular entry level chromed bars that Westin makes. I got them on ebay, total was $325, shipping included.

Go with stainless chrome plated. Lifetime warranty from GM stealer. Nafta, I think was the name. $300 wholesale price, you install.

I think you were referring to NASTA. The ones I bought were polished stainless, and ALL mounting hardware was stainless also, plus a lifetime warranty on everything. It was an easy install, and everything fit. I got mine last year from a place called Truck Expressions for under $300 w/shipping. It's my opinion that the polished stainless is the only way to go. Even if the others are warrantied, who wants the hassle of changing them out.

I've got a set of used Westin chrome nerfs I was going to post in the For Sale forum today. They're in good shape, just a little bit of wear behind the driver's side step pad. I'll let them go for $150 shipped. PM if interested.

My father in law put the Westin Sig. series on his '00 and they are starting to rust on the underside and rust bad, I bought the Westin Platinum series, stainless steel and chrome plated, plus the additional center support. Easy to install and if you look hard enought you can find a good price.

I ordered mine on ebay last week. I went with the Bully stainless for $240 shipped. The seller was yourwheelman he has NASTA ones too. I went with the Bully ones because I have seen them before, I know people who have used their stuff and it seems to hold up well.
They should be here soon, I'll let you know what I think.

Carries LIFETIME warranty from www.dealsofsteel.com (http://www.dealsofsteel.com). $189......why put $200, $300 or more money into someone elses pocket by buying a NAME brand? Also note some others have posted 'nerf bars' in the interior section and they have purchased these and were happy with the install and the performace so far......can't get worse then Westin's my dad had that were rusty after 6 months and they set him back $450....

I'm not tight....but thrifty. Just like auto insurance deductables....go with $500 or more you'll more than save the difference if your smart. Also read the millionaire next door....great book and you'd be surprised how much money you just piss away everyday, week, month, year and over the course of several years.....save more money so you can by a NEW D-Max sooner and just write a check!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NASTA from http://www.runningboardwarehouse.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=168 for about $250. Look good, but had to remove the left one and clear the bracket where it was rubbing.

I have not had them on my truck for more than a week adn who knows they may rust to peices but DANG for 304 stainless with a center support for $179 shipped you cannot beat it... Ebay completed auction number 7985435676. They look fantastic... We have lotsa salt in the winter so I will see if there is an issue.... For now I am happy. I just put stainless (polished) Ricker panels on as well and got bed rails but I am waiting till I get my bed liner to put those on.

I got my Westin Chromed Stainless for 399.00 plus tax from a speed shop I've been doing business with for 20 years. Lifetime warranty from a guy I know will be there when I need him. To me, it's worth the extra bucks...

Does anyone know if the NASTA chrome steps come with a 3rd brace (middle brace)? I think those are the ones I'm going to get.. $279 shipped and everything is stainless steel/chrome (bolts, braces and all of the tube steps).

I would just prefer a center brace as well.

Thanks

edited.. I just ordered them.. hopefully I'll have them this week.

I just purchased a set of polished stainless steel nerf bars (not chrome dipped) from www.reconaccessories.com (http://www.reconaccessories.com). They are awesome quality, and you can't beat the price. I paid $189.99 plus 39.99 for shipping. They look just like the westin bars and they fit great. I hope this helps....

P.S I heard the Nasta hardware fatigues when tightening due to the stainless steel hardware. The hardware needs to be carbon steel because it is softer than stainless allowing the bolts to stay in place and preventing the bolts from loosening when you tighten them down. In other words you risk the stainless steel screws from cracking and breaking apart.

I have the Putco Boss bars only because it came with the truck when I bought it. It's nice to have a lifetime warranty. The drivers side passenger step pad broke off and I emailed Putco and asked if I could buy just 1 and I never got a response from them . Today when I got home I saw package for me. It was from Putco. Not only did they send me 1 they sent me 6 step pads and the best thing about all that It was all free. I have to give it up to Putco for sending me replacement parts without not even knowing if I really had a Putco product. Anybody else have a good experience with other companies?
