My water pump recently went out on my 05 LLY. My truck was out of warranty by a few months, but only had 93K miles on it. The initial price quoted was about $1200. The dealer (Sands Chevrolet-Glendale, Arizona) initially said they would give me a 10% discount and a free rental car. I then contact GM customer service and although it took couple of days to get a final answer, they offered up the parts, so I got out the door for $800.

By the way, I unloaded my Hypertech and they never said anything about it. Previously, I have had other non-motor/electrical work done and never unloaded it.

I was hoping for at least half, but considering they could have just said too bad, I think it was a good deal to have the dealer do the work. Sands Chevrolet has been very good to work with since I bought my first truck from them back in '96. I haven't had too many issues over the years, but they always did good work.

Props to GM and Sands for coming to the table.

Out!

Way to go! I bought my wife a Suburban from them back in 1999. Very nice to deal with.

Wow! $1200 for a water pump change?

Yeah, it is quite expensive. Primarily since it is hard to get to. The cheapest quote I got was from a few independent shops ranging from $850-980. The dealers were $1100-1200 (typical of what others have stated around here). I figure I got it done "right" by the dealer for less than the independent shops.

Out!

Sands has been in business since I was a little boy, and that was a long time ago. My dad and brother have dealt with them and always thought favorably of Sands.

I just Had head gaskets go south on my 05 lly. They tore it apart sent the head out to find that it is pitted outside spec. They came clean for everything. I only paid a $500 deductible. Thanks GM.

Wow how did you get them to do that? I tried there is something wrong with mine and we cant figure it out. When we brought it in the first time it should have been under warranty yet, but the second time the warranty was up. I called GM and they refused to help us at all. What did you do to get them to help you.

Nothing special, I called GM customer service. They opened a claim, I had to bring it into the dealer to confirm the issues, they consulted with the dealer, then a couple days later made the offer to help.

I suggest that you give them another call and see if they will help you.

Good luck!

Well I guess I can always try to give them a call again. I am bringing the truck back in to the shop this week to hopefully get the problem figured out.
