My water pump recently went out on my 05 LLY. My truck was out of warranty by a few months, but only had 93K miles on it. The initial price quoted was about $1200. The dealer (Sands Chevrolet-Glendale, Arizona) initially said they would give me a 10% discount and a free rental car. I then contact GM customer service and although it took couple of days to get a final answer, they offered up the parts, so I got out the door for $800.
By the way, I unloaded my Hypertech and they never said anything about it. Previously, I have had other non-motor/electrical work done and never unloaded it.
I was hoping for at least half, but considering they could have just said too bad, I think it was a good deal to have the dealer do the work. Sands Chevrolet has been very good to work with since I bought my first truck from them back in '96. I haven't had too many issues over the years, but they always did good work.
Props to GM and Sands for coming to the table.
