Hello
Help
I just had my starter and flywheel replaced because the starter nared off some teeth on my flywheel and it sounds like it is doing it again. When the starter is going and turning the flywheel, it sounds like there is a spot that is worn again. Was it installed incorrectly, It doesn't look like the bolts really hold the starter that snugly onto the flywheel, they look like they hold the starter up but not in. And I ended up buying a starter for 129.00, are these starters that much worse than the ones I would get from napa or the gm dealer?

DAvid
I am taking it in to a dealer tomorrow, hopefully i don't have to replace the flywheel again.

Some rebuilt starters have worn mounting surfaces. This causes the teeth on the starter to improperly engage the ring gear. There are shims that can be purchased to accommodate this wear. Personally, if the starter housing is worn enough to cause gear meshing problems, then I would insist on a replacement or get my money back and get a starter from a reputable supplier.
