I have a 2004 2500hd with the factory 6-disk Bose system. Loaded up the CD player this morning with 5 CDs, and the last one started playing like normal. Hit the button to go back to CD 1, and it made a couple of clicks, and never made it any further. It came up with a reading to Check CD 1, and now it won't do anyting. It shows that only CD's 3, 4, and 5 are in the unit, so I have a feeling that 1 and 2 are stuck in never-never land.

Soooo.... Do I have a chance of getting these back? The truck has 43k on it, so warranty replacement is out. I'm not sure I really want to replace it with another of the same anyways. I'm not scared of taking the head unit apart if it is possible to get the CD's back, but am I wasting my time? And are there any good write-ups out there on replacing the factory Bose system with something that has a decent sound?

Thanks in advance.

You may want to talk to a dealer. There are know problems with CDs getting stuck in the head units. Mine did it (I only have the single CD player). They swapped out my head unit and requested the repair facility return my CD. I had it back a week later.

Dealer may be kind enough to help you out since it is a known problem.

My 03 Bose did the same I spent about 3 hours screwing with it trying to get the cd's back.....I finally gave up, and I'm pretty mechanically inclined. Luckily mine was still under warranty, the changer was toaste and they replaced the whole thing. I don't know what to tell you other than if I had the choice I'd go get a new H/U and new cd's.

That's what I was afraid of! Off to the dealer to start asking some questions.
