pulled around 16K GCWR ( truck 7000 + camper 9000) from Pittsburgh to Shenandoah. Tranny never moved over normal op. temps, about 195-200.

Engine NEVER moved from its normal operating temps of about 200-205. just a hair under the hash mark there.

Engine driven fan came on ALOT. Not sure why the needle never moved, but it came on a good bit, from grades, to even and flat turnpike cruising. hmm...

EGT's were 6-700 at cruise and 1200-1250 on grades. All the power I needed at these temps.

fuel economy stinks and I mean stinks. I ran from 65-75 mph. I know a little fast for economy, got 9.4 on the way down. too pissed to check after the ride home.

Overall pretty easy tow, truck runs like a top except for the MPG's.

any one offer advice other than slow down would be appreciated.

killerbee- I believe the cold air mod has a minimal impact on air induction. Its been in place now for a few months, although maybe thats part of the reason the engine temps didnt move at all during the trip. Perhaps some air is leaking out the sides helping to cool the block a bit.... kinda like fingers ram air mod... :)

fingers - we're like neighbors! Id love to get together somewhere and check some stuff out. are there any others local ?

was there a reason you went cold air?

Active DP members are sparse near the 'burgh. I've only met 4 so far in person. Looks like there will be a decent showing this weekend at Pittsburgh dragway. (Old Keystone) You should come.

A mild tow tune does wonders for economy when pulling a trailer. If nothing else, it makes the experience more pleasant.

killerbee- it always seems logical to get ram air to the induction port, this setup seemed to do 2 things, ram the air and cool it a t the same time. just tinkering around really.

Fingers - i got friends coming up from Charlotte - daing!!!I missed the last diesel drag too. i was supposed to meet NWPADmax there but couldnt make it. hope you guys have a blast.
