I accidently stripped the top bolt holding the IP. Now I just turn and turn and it dosnt go nowhere. it looks like the bolt turns with the nut also.
What should I do???????????:help:

No fun! Do you have enough room to put a flat head screwdriver behind the nut?

Fortunately it was the top one and you can access it some, try to wedge a flat tip SD between the nut and IP flange as QM suggests that will give a little "away force" while turning maybe just enough to pick up the remaining thread to walk it off slowly (make sure remaining thread has some lube like PB Blaster on it. You may have to buy a dremel tool with flex shaft to cut off the nut I dont think a "nut splitter" will fit in there, probably need to move some things out of the way for better access.

Im gonna try to do that. If I suceed then what do I do after that? Also why does the bolt turn with the nut?

It must have stripped the timing cover where it holds that stud.

Once you get it out use an inspection mirror to see how much thread meat you have left in the hole, if all is gone it's gonna get UGLY, depending how profficient you are may need a helicoil insert to restore threads, if some meat is left, something that has worked in past for me is after degreasing hole and letting solvent dry, mix up some JB weld and partially fill hole, insert a new stud and let harden, that should do the trick for you. The stud is what is stripped out which is why it's all turning, only the nut is supposed to turn, unless they person who stripped it 1st time tried to bottom a bolt with a nut on it and attempted wedge force off of the bolt to make the IP mount tight, Id recommend pulling IP to get max room to make the repair. Any way you can post a photo of what you are up against?

sorry I dont have a camera. I noticed that the stud was turning with the nut for awhile but i thought that was normal. but today when i turned the timing and retightened, it just kept turning.

will my truck be able to drive with the stud like that?

If 2 lowers are snug you should be okay, I run with my lowers slightly loose and top snug so I can do timing experiments, reverse should work for you.
