I'm new to diesels. Just purchased a 05 2500HD CC 4X4 and was wondering if a K&N replacement for the stock air filter will make much difference or do I need to go with one of the aftermarket complete systems?
I plan on doing exhaust in the near future.

Sorry Man The Keyboard Went Haywire. Just Bought The Same Truck. Congrats! The Consensus On This Forum Is That The Stock Air Filter Is Much Better Than The k@n. Although It Lets More Air In That Also Means More Dirt Into The Engine. Also, people Say The Oil On The k@n Can Melt Into The Engine.

Do a search and you will be able to draw your own opinion on that. Not too many fans of K&N filters on here. Stick with the AC Delco, that would be your best bet. Welcome to The Diesel Place.

I agree with g-man, I bought a k&n and replaced my stock filter right off the get go. The more I read up on the subject the more I think the stock one is better, so I switched back to stock. I never noticed a difference in performance either.

Thanks for the info.
I appreciate the knowledge on these boards. I'll save my money and stick with the stock filter. :)
