where is the temp sensor on a 2004 lb7 duramax, I think mine is shot, I cant get it to go up over 85*c no matter how long i drive

Next to the thermostat housing, pass side.

85*c is roughly 185*f, which is slightly less than "normal" (192)....honestly, not a bad thing, as Dmax's are kind of cold blooded

Are you sure you don't have a thermostat stuck open? My 160* was and that was where I topped out.

The DURAMAX uses 2 stats, one 180 and a 185. Mine hardly ever exceeds 185 unless its 90-95 outside and I'm towing heavy.

I had always heard it was 180 and 192....so thats something new to me.

i have no idea, if it's stuck open i don't really care till winter comes wich is coming quick but we will see

Kinda weird. Mine runs 205-210 in the summer (90+ towing, driving, doesn't matter) and 180 in the winter just driving. Towing is always 205-210
