I have had the TTS dual lift pumps installed for a few weeks and during the install I needed to remove the Nicktane CAT assembly as I did not like how I would need to re-plumb it with it in still located in the rear wheel well opening.

The best place for it was in front of the fuel cooler where many other members have mounted RACOR's, FM100's and there own custom filter setups. There are two factory holes in the frame to bolt a bracket which makes the install easier.

I stopped this past week and had my buddy at the welding shop cut and bent a piece of 3/8" thick plate steel, 4" wide with two bends in it. It fits on the frame rail on the outside and then bends in and across the top of the frame rail and then up again so the CAT head is high enough that when the filter is installed it does not hang below the frame rails.

I had drill it so I could mount everything. I had it made in two pieces, the main bracket and the stone guard bracket which is just a piece of 3/8" x 2" plate steel bent in a 90 degree angle as well..........I will be having him the welding shop cut and bend a piece if 1/4" steel plate to protect the front and bottom of the filter, I hope to get that done this week.

I also figured that since I needed to drop the tank for the TRIPPIN BILLET PICKUP install that I would go ahead and add the AN/Bulkhead fittings as well.......

I am glad that I upgraded the whole thing after seeing how restrictive the stock pickup and hose assembly really is as well as the Fuel Outlet on the sending unit ..........I now have 5/8" ID feeding fuel from the tank to the inlet on the TTS pumps with all smooth bends. The only place I have a sharp 90 degree fitting is the outlet of the second lift pump.......I had a straight AN fitting that would not work as the frame clearance was too tight. I am going to leave it the just the way it is.

I made the changes because I wanted the CAT filter ahead of the Lift Pumps so I maintain full pressure on the filters.

I spent the better part of this afternoon installing all my new fuel system components.........and I thought I would share the install with everyone.

And Diesel does make a good frame coating remover...........

Nicely done.
I too am installing the Trippin Billet pickup, but I did not get the fittings AN/Bulkhead fittings. Is this somthing I need to get from Trippin or can I get these items from a local auto shop like NAPA? I have the tank down now and living in Alaska it would take a while to send them here.
Also how do you go about getting the factory pickup out? There is two tabs that look like you just pry them over and just pull the bottom portion off but mine does not seem to be coming off. Is there a trick to this removal?

Trippin has directions that he emailed me for the install.

PM him and he will send them out to you.

He would be able to tell you what fittings you need...........I already threw away my boxes that came with the AN Fittings.

It looks to me like you just covered a good amount airflow to the fuel cooler. Any comments on what the effect is?

Tony,

the guard looks good.. however can you get the filter off w/o removing the guard?

Looks like he can just undo one bolt and rotate it out of the way pretty easy.

AK, buddy, you need to call me sometime... I'm good at handing tools to people :) LOL

The Picture is deceiving..........there is actuall about 10"-12" from the rock plate to the cooler...........the plate is 5" wide and 1/2 of the cooler is still exposed for air flow...........the filter would have blocked air flow as well..........probably not as much.......

I have been monitoring various things the past week with a TECH II and fuel temps have been around 140-150 degrees........the fuel coolers are removed for some SUPER TANK installs so I doubt that it will hurt anything...............

Thanks for the observation.....

The two top bolts are easily removed............;)

You are correct, the inside bolt closest to the frame rail will be removed and the outside bolt closest to the drive shaft will be loosened to swing the plate out of the way, I wanted to minimize the clearance.....as it stands now the Rock Plate is 1/2" lower than the frame rails and the Torsion Bar cross member and Tranny cross member hangs even lower than that.

I think it will be fine for what I am looking for...........I definitely overbuilt it.

Looks like a nice overall setup!

I dont think the 90 degree exit on the pumps will hurt you that much.

Fuel cooler will not be an issue, as noted above, a Supertank removes it and a Transfer flow all but blocks it anyways.

Ok, I'll be the first to ask....before and after dyno numbers?

LOL!

I would not expect a whole lot of difference in Dyno numbers as Tony has been running a lift pump all along. So the old number are with a lift pump in place.
