: Ordered Damx...now have 8-10 weeks of agony!
Mike330R 01-15-2004, 01:19 AM Ordered my Dmax tonight. Can't wait for it to come in!
I have learned a TON from this site and I thank you all for that!
I will have a ton more questions in the near future :)
Anyone want my 1500 Z71? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
SteveCA 01-15-2004, 01:31 AM Ahh but the anticpation is half the fun... Alright, maybe only a quarter of the fun.
Fun maybe until it gets close to the "rubber room lock up" stage...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif
Welcome to the crowd Mike330R.
What did you order? As a general rule, Chevy's come faster than GMC's and it seems like folks ordering Crew Cabs get them faster than those ordering Regular or Extended Cabs.
Barring any unexpected delays, my GMC EC is going to be here at about 10 weeks...... I hope. It is supposed to be built this week...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif, but it's not a lock yet.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

McRat 01-15-2004, 08:36 AM I ordered a 3500 GMC SRW on 12/16 and got a Targeted Production Week (TPW) of 2/2/04. Subtract a week for the holidays, and it comes to 5 weeks. Add 2 weeks for delivery, and it will come to about 7-8 weeks.
It's getting closer! Now, where did I leave that $40,000 in small unmarked bills? ;)Edited by: McRat
Dmax Tim 01-15-2004, 09:23 AM I ordered my 04 Chevy and 04 GMC and got the Chevy on the lot in 30 days.

bigsky1 01-15-2004, 09:56 AM You guys need to contact howard_m18 (javascript openWin('pop_up_profile.asp?PF=481','profile','too lbar=0,location=0,status=0,menubar=0,scrollbars=1, resizable=1,width=590,height=425')) He is one great guy and can help you track your vehicles progress. He helped me track my truck from the factory to the train (it was cool looking on a map following the trains progress) then when it hit the railyard here I knew before the dealer. Talk to howard.

freddyo 01-17-2004, 01:38 AM Hi Guys -
I placed an order for a 2500HD on 9/9/03. Making a long story shorter, I just concluded last week that the dealer was giving me a line of BS (I know, you are all shocked and amazed that a dealer would behave so!) and reordered on 1/07. Sigh.... In the meantime I have a garage full of after-market (4" exhaust looks like stove pipe) waiting for a truck to put it on. I have been spending time lurking on this and other forums, collecting info, resisting buying more stuff, and suffering from a bad case of truckus interuptus.
Lots of great info. Thanks to all for sharing. Can't imagine life before internet!
gottaway 01-17-2004, 08:09 AM I am happy to join the ordered and waiting club. Ordered a GMC 2500HD D/A on 1/9/04. I fully understand you guys being very anxious, I am too. How soon after your order did you get the SON and TPW numbers? I asked the salesman at the time I ordered and gave them a deposit if there was a order confirmation number, he said no. I had a bad experience with a car salesman once, and now really don't trust them much. This is great to hear other peoples ordering info. I think this is great of Howard too. I am glad to hear there is some numbers I should be getting. I wonder if the dealer even ordered my truck? Oh oH, this waiting is really making me paranoid.I will be waiting for any info from others.
gottaway,
There is usually only one person at the dealership who orders vehicles. It's done on the computer right at the dealership linked to GM. He'll get a SON before he logs off. If he can't give you the SON (its composed of six capital letters) he hasn't ordered it yet.
GMC's take a little longer than bowties since they only build about 1/3 the number and it took right at four weeks for me to get a TPW.
Part of that was due to the fact that I ordered right after GM started changing all the LB7 orders to LLY. Mine got changed three days after I ordered it, and it was one day after GM accepted the order.
I've posted most of the event codes the dealers get on their VOMS (Vehicle Order Management System) in a couple of different places around here. Once I get my truck, hopefully in the next ten days or so, Diesel Power has agreed to post a list of all of them if I'll get them put together. Then you can check with your dealer every so often and you'll have a better idea of where it's at.
closs2sx 01-17-2004, 09:17 AM if youre lucky you will get to have 12 weeks and counting of agony like me ordered mine oct 16 got a tpw tease of 12/8/03 and then in comes the lly and my tpw goes to 1/12/04 it has been produced so I am looking at 2-3 more weeks 15 total.the best part is i had 3 certificates expire that resulted in 3000 on top of the gm rebates which were up to 3500 in dec when my truck should have came in so actually it was 4000 on top of gms current rebate of 2500.
TCosgrove 01-17-2004, 09:50 AM Hi guys I ordered my 2004 Sierra GMC SB D/A 4x4 SLT with the Snow Plow Prep Pkg. on 12-08-03.. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif After finding this sight I called the dealer and he gave me my TPW of 01-19-04 and my SON. I emailed Howard and he tole me to email him back Monday the 19'th and he will track it for me. Of interest to everyone is this info that I found on the GM media sight:

gottaway 01-17-2004, 12:15 PM Zeeb,
Thanks for the detailed info. I e-mailed my salesman again (todays e-mail stated "should be within a week" to get the SON). With this new knowledge I really want to know if he ordered it yet.
This whole ordeal seems to be a big game, why does it seem to be a big secret?
Well I hate to tell you this, but it is something of a game.
GM only builds so many of each type of vehicle, so the country is divided into zones. Each zone gets an allocation based primarily on their last year's sales. Each dealer within that zone gets an allocation.
These are usually a month to month thing. So in order for your dealer to order a truck, first he has to have a slot. If he doesn't have a slot, the zone rep can pull one from another dealer since sold retail orders are supposed to take precedence over fleet and stock orders. BUT, some dealer is going to lose a unit..... Are you starting to get the idea?
This is where the gamesmanship comes in. If your dealer needs a slot and he's on really good terms with the zone rep, he gets it. Especially if there is a dealer in the zone who the rep doesn't get along with very well. Now, if your dealer is the one who doesn't get along with the zone rep very well, guess what happens?
You get to wait until your dealer gets his normal allocation.
Now it's not supposed to be that way, but whenever you get people involved, there are always politics going around, just a fact of life. While this allocation thing might not be a problem with your order, if it is, would you think the dealer will tell you he can't order you a truck for a month?
The final part of the puzzle is that most dealers, unless it's a high volume operation, tend to only order once a week. So it's not unusual for a week to go by before you get your SON.
gottaway 01-17-2004, 02:54 PM Thanks Zeeb,
Good information is alot better than no information, even it is not what you may want to hear. This explanation does make sense, just wish the dealer could tell me this. Sounds like you have some inside info. I can take the truth, just it's so hard to hear vague answers from a saleman and be assured everything is fine. So the game goes on.....My ears are ringing from what the salespeople call us "PITA" customers that bug them for info.
The Navy had a motto...... Hurry up and wait!
gottaway,
I've been in and around the car business since I was 20. While it's been some time since I actually worked at selling cars, I still have some friends who are in the business.
Bad part of my whole buying experience this time, is that the dealer whom I've known personally and bought every vehicle for the last 33 years from, sold out. So I had to find a new dealer. I think I was successful in finding one since I feel pretty good about how my salesman has handled the whole situation. It made me nervous going to a new dealer, and not dealing directly with the General Manager of that dealership made it worse.
But this guy has answered all my questions. If he didn't know, he told me so and found out what the answer was later. He's put up with my more or less constant checking in without any complaint what so ever. If we get to the pay for the truck part, and that goes as well as everything else, I've got a new dealer. That's one of those guys who you don't even ask the price because you know they'll give you at least as good as you'll get anywhere. The service department will handle any and all questions or problems, even if they have to send it out. And if you ever want another new one, you just call on the phone and he'll call you when it comes in. No hassles, no hagling, no deposits, just two people being honest with each other and good for their word.
So if you felt good enough about these folks to order, give them a chance to show you how they'll perform. They need to get to know you as well. There are a lot of flakes who come into a car dealership all mixed in with all sorts of personality types of real buyers. Folks who know what they want, and who ask a lot of questions, then do what they say they will are rare.
04wanabemax 01-18-2004, 08:37 AM Congratulations to all on ordering your trucks or recieving them.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif This site is the best!! lots of info and great people on board willing to assist us in any way they can. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif I have allready ordered my Nicktane system to be installed when my truck arrives. Just though I would run the proccess by you folks to see if anyone else went through this when Ordering their truck with the Dealer.
I ordered my 04 D/A 2500 HD CC LT 4X4 POLO GREEN on 12/31/04. I have recieved my TPW of 02/09/04. Dealer said it would be at his lot within 30 days of build date http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif sure wish it would be sooner. I sat with my sales guy through the ordering of the truck using the on-line system which created this sheet called
Submit Preliminary Order- Confirmation
On this sheet is a header with the following information In boxes with the appropriate codes filled in under them Configuration #, Order# (is this the SON?), Pattern (this was left blank), Model, Dan (this was left blank), Package, Transmission, Engine,Trim, Color1, Color2 ( In my case left blank one color only) Options, Ship to BAC,Ship to BFC
When we completed this form at the Dealer we double checked all options on this sheet and once we were both satisfied it was correct it was then sent in as an order. He then recieved some # saying it was confirmed (SON ?), and that we had about two weeks to make any changes to the vehicle before we would recieve the TPW. He did say you could make changes to the vehicle even after recieving the TPW, but this could change the TPW significantly.
Sorry about the long post, just thought it might be interesting to others and stir up some more experiences or conversation !!!!!!!!!!!
Can't wait for my TRUCK
Good day and may the wait be short and recieve the truck early in the day so you won't have to drive it all night!
FranEdited by: 04wanabemax
Fran,
The order number is your SON, it will be made up of six capital letters.
The event code will be 3000 on the VOMS when it's accepted by production control at about two weeks or so, at that point you'll get a TPW. Depending on what you ordered and what is scheduled to be built. At about the four week mark, it should to to 3100 and no changes can be made then. One member did succeed in changing his, but it surprised even his dealer. He had help from folks here and phone numbers for GM.
Congrats and my condolences for your state of mind over the next six to eight weeks..... You'll be reasonably sane at first, but as the truck gets closer, things deteriorate.......http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif
edit info:
I should mention that the above is just kind of a guide. Generally speaking it will take 6 to 8 weeks for a "Bowtie" and 8 to 10 for a GMC. One member did get a Chevy in about 30 days, there are a few who ordered in October and are just getting, or about to get their trucks. I had one order which I waited 5 months for, so YMMV but the above schedule represents the most common time frames.Edited by: Zeeb
04wanabemax 01-18-2004, 07:08 PM Zeeb,
Thanks for verifiying the Order number is the (SON). Kind of funny though mine only had 5 capital letters and a number in the fifth position, but after reviewing it I figured thats what it had to be. I have sent the Info to Howard so he can assist me along the way to see if there are any significant changes, and to track it along the way. As I have said before GREAT SITE, and it couldn't be done without memebers like you. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif
Thanks again, Fran
951 Driver 01-18-2004, 10:34 PM I ordered my truck (3500 GMC D/A CC) on 1-8-04.
Initially, I thought the "pewter" color was "sand beige metallic" but have found that the "silver birch metallic" is really the closer match.
Anyone who's changed their order (I got my SON before I left the dealer) have any insight into how much this will delay my order? It sounds like the dealer may already have a TPW based on the group's experience. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Julian
Change it.
It may or may not delay at this point, but if it does delay it, it should only be a week or two. If you get a color you didn't really want, six months down the road or so, you'll kick yourself for not getting what you really wanted, and the extra time it might take now, will look insignificant from that perspective.
Just my two cents....
TCosgrove 01-22-2004, 09:25 PM Well I recived a great email from Howard today telling me what is going on and he is doing well.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
I also went to the dealer today and I have an event code of 3800 which I take it to mean the TRUCK is built because there is also a vin no. now.
Now Im gonna wait and wait and waithttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wacko.gif. But when it gets here Im gonna be so HAPPYhttp://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clown.gif
Once again this is an awsome sight and everyone on here is great for helping each other out.

freddyo 01-30-2004, 02:29 AM Zeeb -
Congrats. Mine will be coming through part part of the country in what looks to be about March 17. Living in Carson City NV, it will go whizzing by me on its way to Melpitas CA, there to be unloaded from the train to await a ride back east via I80. to NV. Sigh... It has a TPW of 02/02 so I know its coming, someday.
And as for you other fellows crying about time, I have empathy for you but you don't know about time. I thought that I had an order in on 09/05 and didn't figure out until January that I was being stroked by a dealer that did't have an allocation (having found out how that worked from this forum, thank you).
In the meantime, I have reordered and gotten over the associated upset, impatience, very bad thoughts regarding the dealer, etc. Too old for that. I'm using my time to make wiring diagrams, solder connectors, etc. Good therapy. Needed.
Voodoo 01-30-2004, 07:49 AM Zeeb,
Congrats on the new ridehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif. It looks so sweet! I just received my vin today and it's in transit! I figure next week sometime she will come home with me. How's it feel with the wait over?
Was the fluid level low in the rear end?
VooDoo,
Great news for you, but the next 10 days or so the waiting gets REALLY LONG...........
Haven't pulled the plug yet, but I've got it at the station with me today so I'll get under there tonight and check things. I was going to do it the other day while it was on a lift getting the running boards put on, but the local shop Nazi ran me out of the place with the "insurance regulations" excuse. Been a long time since I was chased out with that one, but the kid working on the truck said she was, shall we say, "tough to work with?"
In any event, I told three people at the dealership about possible low fluid levels and all said it was okay, but it doesn't look like there's been a wrench on the differential plug since the paint is still intact. So we'll see. I really hope it's not low since I've already got to try and mend some fences with the SM. I've not been able to catch him since the blow up over the paint repair when the truck came in Tuesday, and I went over his head to the General Manager.
TCosgrove 01-31-2004, 03:06 PM Zeeb
I just got the news that mine is at the Dealerhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif . It was unloaded a hour ago. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif looks like it took from the day it was ordered 12-08-03 to today 6 weeks 6 days to get herehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif.The bad part is Im working 24 at the firehousehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Dead.gif and can't go see it till tomorrow when I get off. If its not toooooo cold Im gonna crawl under there and check my fluids myself and if they are low I'll know. So that then when I pick it up on Monday I can ask them how they were and see what kind of answer I get.
I'll try to post pictures Monday also.
Thanks to all on this forum who have made the wait bearable.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif

Tim,
Tough deal sitting at the station and the new baby is in town....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif
My rear differential is low. Can't say for sure how low, but it's about 1.25 in below the fill plug. I read somewhere here GM says .60 to .80 below the fill hole, but most of the techs say they just bring it up to the hole. That's what I used to do when I was servicing stuff.
Oh, I didn't get under the front end since no one's really reported problems and since the rear is low, I didn't see a need. You'll need a 15mm box end wrench or socket/ratchet to do the job, and don't forget your penlight.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gifEdited by: Zeeb
04wanabemax 01-31-2004, 05:10 PM Zeeb, you must be glad the wait is over! Congartulations on the new truck, that is sure a nice looking dually. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif So tell us Zeeb, was it worth the wait? I bet it is!! Hope you are enjoying it, and don't let the dealer slack off, because given the chance it seems many of them will try and get away with everything they can to save a buck. Best wishes. Fran
gottaway 01-31-2004, 05:38 PM Zeeb,
Congratulations on the new truck. I guess this low rear end fluid is pretty common? This is something that would go un-noticed unless you look for it!
Well best of luck and may you have many trouble free miles, LOOKS GOOD!
Thanks for your advice, I am waiting for a TPW #.

04wanabemax 02-03-2004, 08:21 AM Yeah I know I'll love the new truck just can't wait like you and others here. Sorry to hear you have to deal with the low rear differential fluid issue. Are you planning on using your new truck to plow with? Do you plow commercially or just a few driveways?
I too have a plow/sander truck, 1987 chevy with 220,000 mi. I have owned this truck since 101,000 miles and done all my own maintenance/ repairs since then. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif I'll keep this plow truck until it no longer can reasoanably be fixed, (probably 10-15 years) as we live on a private road which is 3/4 of a mile long and I also plow 4 other driveways on this road.
I guess I am not planning on putting a plow on my new truck until this old one is completly gone, but who knows that could be a real long time.
Enjoy the new truck as we all will, Fran
TCosgrove 02-03-2004, 03:57 PM Fran
This truck is awsomehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif You should have seen their faces when i went back to the dealership this AM. to have the rear and front differentials and transfer case checked. Took a pint in the rear.Told the service manager how I knew to check it from reading this forum. He said that he would keep a closer eye on the PDI guy.
Yes I plan on plowing with this truck. I have 6 accounts I service and thats all I need. The 84 is tired and costing me money. Im gonna give it to the fella that does all my service work. It'll have a good home there and I can go and visit it. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

04wanabemax 02-03-2004, 07:48 PM Tim, let me know what you think of it as a plow truck. Mine is a CC and will be a bit longer, and I know I wont plow with it for at least a few years.
Glad you set the dealer straight. It seems almost every one is having this issue and some of them even after letting the dealer know it's an issue. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif I sure hope it doesn't happen to me, but I will fore-warn my salesman that I will be checking it!!!!
Best of luck with your truck, Fran
Tim,
GREAT TRUCK... Can you believe it's here? Awesome aren't they?
I bit the bullet today. Went in and fought the SM dilema at the dealer's. He still insisted that the differentials were filled to GM specs, but would add more if I insisted. I did insist.....
I'll get under it when I go to the station again on Thursday and see what they've done. I couldn't even get my pinky finger into the hole on the front differential to check it. I told the SM that, as well as the fact that the rear was about 1.25 inches below the fill hole, and even GM said it should be about 1/2 inch.
The SM seemed more like he understood that it was MY truck not his, and that customer service is supposed to be one of his functions. I can't tell yet if that's because he realized what he'd done, or if my going berserk over his handling of the freight damage and going to the General Manager of the dealership is what prompted his change of heart.
THEY DID NOT LIST HOW MUCH LUBRICANT THEY ADDED TO THE DIFFERENTIALS ON THE WORK ORDER............http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Stern Smile.gif
I hate this being in limbo with the SM, but felt I had no choice over the paint repair deal. I tried to make up to him by asking questions about any local stations and bad fuel, asked his opinion about the new Racor filter kit. It was all a waste of time. Guess I'll go ahead and get either a kit from Eric, or from Racor, whoever gets them together and put it on the truck.
I'm quite nervous about Edge right now, got to get an EGT gauge I can put into the overhead console instead of the Attitude if it's got to go into the dealership. I was originally going to take the truck to Ogden this week for those guys, but I've not heard back from them and the weather has been nasty, so maybe next week....Edited by: Zeeb
TCosgrove 02-03-2004, 10:07 PM Fran
I can't let ya know how well it plows untill next year. Im gonna get the plow this summer when they are cheaper.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
Zeeb
I went in the dealership this am and they were a little confused. The SM called a Tech to see where the level was supposed to be. He was told you should feel it at one knuckle. I told him you couldn't feel it at 2. Anyway thye checked it all again and added a pint to the rear. He is sending me the work-order in the mail. AS for a OEM filter the tech at the dealereship said don't do it cause the fuel pump will work twice as hard to pick up the fuel. Im kinda at his mercy. His other statement was now that they have put the injectors where you can get to em easy they won't break. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif I'll just keep my eye on it and when I chnage the fuel filter the first time I'll cut it open to see what it looks like inside. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif
Be safe at work Bro. PM about your Station.

maynard9089 02-08-2004, 07:53 PM Count me in as an ANXIOUS soon-to-be-proud-owner of a 2004 DMax/Ally 2500HD CC SB 4x4 in carbon met. The order was placed on 1/14 and my TPW is 2/23. Not a bad wait but one I would prefer was over. This sight has given me great info that I can arm myself with upon delivery. Thanks everyone and I assure you I will keep you up-to-date about how everything proceeds.
Ordered my Dmax tonight. Can't wait for it to come in!
I have learned a TON from this site and I thank you all for that!
I will have a ton more questions in the near future :)
Anyone want my 1500 Z71? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
ordered mine last week! i sympathize...
gottaway 02-09-2004, 10:31 PM I am anxious too, glad I should be able to take delivery before the 0%APR runs out.
Maynard, I have the same TPW week of 2/23, for my GMC D/A EC, and same color carbon metallic.
Hurry up and wait!
McRat 02-09-2004, 10:36 PM I've been informed by a little bird that my GMC was loaded on a train today.
It's getting closer... and closer... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
mbeckwith 02-10-2004, 03:28 PM I'll race you ! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
Let's see who gets their truck first.
I ordered on 1/13/04. Here in Northern CA (SF Bay Area).
Chevy 2500HD Duramax/Allison EC SB 4x4 SRW
skid plate, dual alternator, winter cover, spare tire lock, 4x4 decal delete
Dark gray metallic/Dark charcoal
I just called the dealership. They said I should expect it within the (or was it "a") month. Anyways, he said the build date (TPW) is 2/16/04 .
04wanabemax 02-14-2004, 08:08 AM Ordered a GMC 2500 HD D/A CC SB on 12/31/04 and it is on the Rail CAR as of 02/12/04. A Great big thanks goes out to Howard!! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif I hear the train a comming, comming round the bend, I haven't seen my new truck, it seems to never end......
Now if I can only make it through the next phase without getting to crazy!!! Sure can't wait to be driving it daily. The old 91 chevy has been an excelent truck ( and will be a keeper ), but time for an upgrade. I have been telling my wife I sure work hard!!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif
Voodoo 02-15-2004, 11:33 AM Hang in there guys! It's well worth the wait! I can not drive mine enough!
Newguy 02-15-2004, 03:43 PM I'm still waiting.... my TPW is supposed to be Feb 23rd...
So I guess I'll still have to ask about the fluid levels in mine too then? Is the factory trying to save $.05 on each truck the build by underfilling them all or what's going on? Too many s on lunch break for the UAW? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
Well, I'll just be patient and see it when it arrives...
maynard9089 02-15-2004, 03:49 PM My TPW is the same as yours. As a GM/UAW employee I feel confident in saying that any "cost cutting" is a result of poor management decisions. The people that make these decisions are so far removed from the customer and the production floor that it is amazing that anything makes it out the door.
04wanabemax 02-25-2004, 08:04 PM The day of reckoning has arrived! It's here and it's sweet! 3 miles when I picked it up and 88 miles on her now. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif To all that are waiting best of luck. I was up at 2:00 AM this morning, just couldn't sleep. I wonder why???? Well no more sleepless nights. Now I will have to work on my Nicktane install once weather permits ( the wife has both bays of the garage taken up with her business, and I don't know if it would even fit inside it due to it's height. Got to go to work they just called. YES another drive in my truck. Fran

Mine should be here in a few days.
I want it NOW!
:)
maynard9089 02-25-2004, 11:17 PM I'm still twiddling my thumbs waiting for some good news from our good friend with the inside track. I know he hasn't forgotten me because I wont let him. My wife is more anxious than I am, though for different reasons. She wants my attention back.

She better hope the truck never comes, you will not want to get out of the drivers seat. My wife asked if I was going to sleep in mine.Edited by: Voodoo
freddyo 02-25-2004, 11:45 PM Yahoo!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif Me too. Picked it up an hour ago. The waiting is over and now the work begins. The good part is that I will be working on a nice clean new rig rather that an old greasy wore out rust bucket. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Smile.gif
maynard9089 02-26-2004, 05:24 PM I spoke with the truck manager at my dealership today and he says the truck has been shipped and the VIN given to my dealer. I've got a call into the dealer to get the VIN. I asked when it shipped and they didn't know. I'm kinda confused because our dear friend Howard has been watching all week for it. Could it have been built and shipped ahead of the TPW? Not that that is a bad thinghttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif! The sooner the better! Now that American Axle went on strike today it makes me glad I didn't wait any longer to order. The wait is bad enough!
SteveNorCal 02-26-2004, 06:16 PM Isn't DURAMX life grand!!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
I've had mine for 1 month now and I still can't get over her.
The wife is really steamed (cause I'm still more paying attention to the "baby"). Going to somehow change that soon. How? I don't know the answer to that one yet.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif
04wanabemax 02-26-2004, 06:28 PM Congratulations, freddyo! Enjoy the new ride!!!! I know I am!
175 miles as of it as of this morning ( got the on call truck right now, but it is a dmax just not mine. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif). I washed it at work before I left I had mud on the back windows of the CC, it will be ready for me tomorrow night when the weekend begins!!!!!! It sure has been getting muddy up here when the sun stays out long enough to penetrate through the snow & ice and we aren't even in mud season yet. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif Oh well it will just give me another excuse to go wash it and go for a drive so I can wait till the mud freezes over at night. I'll be posting some pics soon! Fran
gottaway 02-26-2004, 08:04 PM Maynard,
Looks like you beat me, I have the same TPW, this week, but I haven't heard anything. If you live way in the western part of the state it should be there in no time. I'm at the eastern part of NY
maynard9089 02-27-2004, 03:41 AM Gottaway,
I won't believe it until the keys are in my hand. I still haven't heard back about a VIN. This info came from the truck manager and not my salesman. Howard has my info as well and so far nothings shown up from him regarding a sighting. I hope that it has shipped because the American Axle strike could slow/stop production pretty quickly since GM uses just-in-time production. If my TPW was in the next two weeks I would look for delays unless this gets settled by Monday.
95geo 02-27-2004, 09:55 AM i ordered my replacement tuesday, now i wait another 5 weeks.... talk about agony
maynard9089 02-27-2004, 12:11 PM OK Ive got the VIN. Its a go! My salesman said the est. delivery date is
March 17th though!? He's had the Vin since the beginning of the week. Over three weeks to get it to the dealer? I'm only about 4 hours from the plant! What are they pushing it all the way here or what? How long has it taken most of you to get your truck once it was built?
Mike330R 02-27-2004, 12:16 PM maynard,
My TPD was Feb 23rd and delivered March 20th. i said the same thing!
Howard is watching it and it looks like it will be in my state on Feb 29th!
I think they say 3 weeks to be a the extreme safe side.
maynard9089 02-27-2004, 11:13 PM Good luck Mike330R! Howard reports that mine will be here in 2-4 days! Should be driving her by next weekend!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif
Mike330R 02-27-2004, 11:15 PM As of now mine is almost out of WY headed into UT!
Are you tracking your?
I am, every 30 minutes or so :) Wish I could find a good map that tells all the places it's in. I try a search on some of the town names it gives and they are not found. I know the R/R's use odd names for places.Edited by: Mike330R

The railroad naming thing drove me nuts too.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wacko.gif
Get on one of the map sites, give it two known towns along the way and zoom in on the map. Locate the railroad tracks on the map and follow them, you'll find the names of some of those places not listed as towns on maps. The only other challenge is that some of the abbreviations are a bit tricky to decipher....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif
Get out your tranquilizers, it's going to be a long couple of days now and congrats....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gifEdited by: Zeeb
maynard9089 02-27-2004, 11:53 PM Mine is traveling by truck so I cant track her. I'm only 4-5 hours away if you go through Canada.
mbeckwith 02-28-2004, 12:56 AM I ordered on 1/13/04.
According to what the "bird told me", my baby will be arriving at the local railroad station in a matter of hours. While tracking, the train was stuck and delayed for almost 24 hours on the other side of the sierra mountains. It was agonizing, but understandable due to the storms that we've been having on the west coast.
I expect to take delivery at the beginning of next week (hopefully 3/1/04) after it gets to the dealership and goes through the PDI.
04wanabemax 02-28-2004, 07:13 AM To all you guys waiting, it's more than worth the wait!
I know the wait drove me Crazy!!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wacko.gif Now that it's here, like many others have stated you just can't wipe that big grin off your face every time you head out in it!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif Off to bring my daughter to work which truck shall I choose? I guess it will be the DMAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope they come for you guys real soon.
On edit: I just thought I would mention my dealer had told me to expect up to 4 weeks delivery time to be on the safe side and the truck was on the built and on the train on the 2/12/04 and at my dealer on 2/24/04 (12 days of shipping) but I am sure it would certainly depend on where it's going and any delays.
Best of luck FranEdited by: 04wanabemax
Mike330R 02-28-2004, 01:28 PM I got 'map happy' last night and made a map of the route the train takes. The red squares represent where I followed the tracks in the mapping software and the yellow marks represent the data/locations provided by UP. It's currently in Lynnoyl, UT headed to Los Angels area.

mbeckwith 03-03-2004, 10:29 PM I just picked up my truck a couple hours ago. Thank you Howard for helping me keep tabs on my baby. Also, another thank you to Howard for getting me the GM in the Driveway Certificate.
After getting home... I just had to drive it up some hills. Without gunning it, it seems like it will have plenty of power (at least until I chip it). I couldn't tell if it was the rear locker or wheel hop when I was going up the hills. I'll have to do some more testing tomorrow up a straight hill to determine which it was.
Mike330R 03-09-2004, 04:26 PM Got mine last night..FINALLY!
Thanks Howard for tracking help.
I am very happy w/ the truck and look forward to mods!

Mike330R 03-09-2004, 08:06 PM I ordered on Jan 15th and picked it up March 8th. It was here a few days before that but I was on vacation.

Two months to the day, including roughly two week delay because of changing the color (which I am very glad I did).
Thanks again to Tim (for the certificate) and Howard (for the birth announcement)--made waiting more bearable.
Next: install the goodies I've been accumulating (Bilsteins, Titan hitch, Turnover Ball hitch, etc etc etc)
