Ok i installed the transgo jr kit myself. I installed it at around 120k and i had the banks on at around 80k. Had slipping with the tranny with the banks on 6 before so i figured transgo will help. Well it does a good job getting into the next gear without that slipping long shift it did when it was stock. It was fairly easy for me seemed to go together smooth without any problems on the install. At the same time i switched over to transynd along with a deep pan and filter. Cruised the truck for about a week or so without towing. After getting on it a few times the truck will shift to 2nd no problem then mid 2nd do another shift but stay in 2nd. Now just cruising with tow haul on it shifts to 2nd but then the 2nd shift in 2nd seems like a long slip from 1st gear. Anyone have any clue what it could be?

Also i cant recall if my tranny has always had a faint whinning noise to it, seems as if it goes to the rpm with the turbo whistle. I dont know just getting paranoid about the whole subject i suppose.

Well i figured out what the whinning sound was, my alternator. Makes sence when we had the last so cal storms i took it down a street used mostly as a reservoir so thats about when the sound started, maybe knocked some debris or whatnot in it.

Any ideas on the False shift in 2nd? it seems to happen real bad with tow haul on at any throttle position.

Thanks

Take sometime and drive it in Tow/Haul at light throttle and see if the shifting does not improve. If it does then increase the amount of throttle and repeat. We like to recommend you do up and down shifts at 1/4 , 1/2, 3/4 and full. Donot increase the throttle level until it's shifting right at the lower positions. The TCM only learns the shifts when shifting so a long drive with little shifting get yoou very little improvement, it needs to shift to learn and you have to do both Tow Haul and Normal modes to allow it to learn in fully.

i would like to relearn the tcm and start over being that im taking out the banks for now. Will just disconection the battery relearn or does it have to be flashed?

If you are in tow/haul mode the second "shift" that you are feeling is the torque converter locking up. Perfectly normal. Won't happen till 4th with tow/haul off. Have a good day.

No you need to have someone with a Tech II or something like it that will allow you to reset the TAP's and do a Quick Learn. It will reset it self with enough driving and shifting but that could take a good few weeks of driving.
