: Teflon paste on injector cups?

Well, the shop screwed up the surfacing of my heads in that they did the surfacing job without pulling the injector cups! They ruined their diamond cutter according to the owner but that's their problem.......

They pressure checked the heads after the surfacing and said there were no leaks. I do feel that pulling the cups, checking for possible burrs where the cutter trimmed the end of the cup and re-sealing would be wise at this time. The diesel tech at the GM dealership said to put teflon paste on the cups along with the red locktite. Where on the cups would I apply the paste? Between the locktite area and O ring I assume?

Thanks for any input on this and thoroughly question any machine shop you take your parts to! This should have been a no brainer!

I used the new green sleeve retainer loctite formula on mine. As for the teflon, I'm assuming he means on the o-ring. I just used some assembly goo on mine to keep the o-rings from pinching when I installed em. As for removing the cups, make sure they didn't burr the ends of the cups before you remove them. If they are burred on the outside they will put a nic scratch or gouge in the aluminum that they seal to and will leak as it will pretty much ruin the heads.
