I've been searching for a few hours for more info about updating the 2001 OS to the 2002 OS. I gathered the perfered OS is 6006 but people mention needing to change a few items but thats where the info ends.

Question 1
Is the upgrade as simple as dropping the 02 OS onto the computer or do I need to make sure certain things match or need to be adjusted?

Question 2
The new tunes dropped onto the truck will have to be for the 02 OS?

Simply grab a 2002 op systym that is for the same style truck EG: same size fuel tank
aoutomatic if thats what you have? Copy and paste the vin number from your stock tune to the new 02 tune

then simply full flash the 02 tune in ( i would keep the 01 tune saved on your computer)

Why are you changing? there is nothing wrong with the 01 as far as im concerned

Having issues with misc codes popping up for no reason. Also I pop the P0093 code but fuel pressure is logging fine and I have replaced the injectors and injector pump. It doesnt happen very often just rare and I'm sick of it. Noticed the code is gone in 02 so I was going to try that OS first then start dropping tunes from Nick on the truck.

I said the same thing when I went from an 01 to an 02, but then I flashed back to an 01 and man could I tell the difference right away. It was nothing but mysterious problem after problem with the 01 os in and a smal ltune. Flashed back to an 02 and no more problems.

Finally got around to pushing the OS onto the truck but had to disable high speed mode for efi live to work. No major issues yet but I still need to tow with the truck to see if my issue is gone.

What OS are you using if you dont mind me asking? I have a guy around here who wants me to update his and i wasnt sure if there were better OS numbers than others. thanks

From everything I have read, 6006 is the best OS from 02. I think there is a file in the tune library.

Yep, if it's an auotmatic trans truck head to the tune library and download the 6006 from GMC2002 and have at it.
