My cel came on today code p0404 "egr open position performance" what does it mean and how can I eliminate it. I have a California emisions vehiecle, I want to remove the egr but I cant find a kit for a 2003 lb7 engine

P0404 can be caused by a number of things such as leaking hoses from the vacuum pump to the various parts in the system. First see if you have about 20" Hg from the pump to rule out a bad pump. Check all your vacuum lines to see if any one of them are leaking or kinked. In my case the P0404 was caused by a faulty EGR vent valve that is located above the fuel filter. The part number is 1997254. You can do a search here and find the schematic and other information on this most stupid system. If you are in CA, are you not in an emissions check area? There is no "kit" to remove the EGR on the LB7. One does have to reprogram the ECM with something like EFI live to shut down EGR function. Good luck.
