Do you know how JJ and others always chime in to tell us to haul within our legal limits.....

Well, yesterday, heading out on vacation - 3500 plus miles, we are on mile 67 and the rear axle of the 40' weekend warrior (tripple axle) decided to come loose, shear the center bolt and send the right side of the axle to the rear shackle. Pretty wild to look in your mirror and see the back of your trailer three feet to the right.

Loaded very light this trip as we only had the mountain bikes in the trailer, little bit of fresh water and a little fuel.

I was able to call a friend who was about 30 miles away and had a center bolt. I was able to fix it and get on the road within two hours. The 4500 didn't get pulled around by the trailer. We were pretty fortunate. Now, on day two in Yosemite, no other issues. Except, climbing to 10,0000+ elevation, it was all the 4500 could do to go 15 mph without taking the egt's over 13,500 temp.

Great times. Glad nothing happend. I almost to the 97 wranger in the back. It puts me at max+ on my weight. No telling what the Weekend Warrior would have done if I would have had the extra 4400 pounds on the back.

Well, on up to the redwoods, up the coast, Oregon, Washington, Vancouver, then back to AZ. :grd:

Glad everything turned out OK. I know those 40 footers must be one heck of a tow load based on my experience with the 35 footers.
