: looking for dual lift pump layout

For those of you guy's that have made your own dual lift pump setup, I am looking for a plumbing layout, with pic would be nice. Not getting enough fuel with 1 fm100. I want to install a holley red pump (already have one) along with my fm100, to come on with a switch only when I need it.
I don't know if they get plumbed in series or parallel. :help:

Go parallel for more volume.

You want to go parallel incase one dies because these pumps are not flow through. With single or dual FM100's, you'll net about 5-6 PSI. If you want more, you might want to tack on a holly or whatever to one of the FM100's and leave the other one be, so you get high PSI through one side of a chained lift.

Dont have pics ATM, but could snap if you want..

Basically this is the layout:

Tank out, T's into 2 lines, one to each pump, from each pump, goes back into a T, to a single line to the engine.

It will make a long set up but I have 2 fm100's. I placed a T fitting between both pumps(the fm100 can feed and spit on both sideds of the pump as you know) and just run one line from the pump to the stock line and one feed line. The way I have stuff its over a 1' long though. -4 line feeding the Tees and then a reducer off the Tees feeding the pumps with a small section of AN blue line so the filters could flex a bit independant of each other.

i wish i had that much room under my truck!! i just installed a holley blue, and have yet to pull down past 9(very little testing). i had two ac delco's but the fuel pressure guage said not enough! i had one T and then my 2nd filter head combined them. then one out to the stock fuel filter. i think now the holley is more than enough so i think i am now going to dump the extra ac pump right after the holley pump. will use less hose too. i think i am going to go with 5/8" or -10 lines, up from 1/2". havent got that far yet, need to mount the holley pump first.

I'm thinking of putting on another higher flow pump on, and have it chained to one of the FM100's, so I can get higher pressure, but it might not mean anything to run such a high pressure, especially if you dont suck it dry.

Some say run them in series and some say run them in parallel..........

Mine are in series, I have a modified Fuel pickup from Trippin as well as -10 AN fittings for feed from te tank to the to inlet of the dual pumps plumbed with 5/8" ID Hose.

I am also running the Dual Pumps from TTS and they are pushing through a CAT Filter........the system will allow fuel to flow thru the pumps without them running, so if they were to fail I would not need a bypass installed.

They are here.........

The only issues with the Holley pumps we had during testing was that they were loud and did not last with diesel fuel. It seems they go about 3 -6 months before they start leaking and/or fail. When you run dual pumps in parallel you need to make sure that the fuel is just not pumped from one to the other. What I mean is if you run one pump with the other off what stops the fuel from going back wards through the pump that is off? The same applies when they are both on if one has a higher output than the other. A couple of one way check valves are needed on the output of the pumps.

the ac pumps have a built in check valve i guess, they only flow one way. and the other reason i still have one ac pump on is in case the holley locks up, it still flows through, even when off. i have been hearing from people on here that the holley pumps are loud!! i just bought one new from summit, and was completely shocked at how quit it is. i would have to say its not much louder than the ac pumps! very very quite. my fuel quage says that it will spike to about 15 psi and then comes back down to 13. thats only when i have it on. i have noticed that the ac pump does pump a little through the holley pump, BUT it will still hold 3psi crusing down the road.(dont take much to suck it dry though.! as in droping psi to 0) the holley pump is also rebuildable too.

Give it about 3-4K miles...........I have gone through two in less than a year.........the first one got really loud and I thought it died..........it didn't and the second new one I bought only has 4k miles on it and was loud too.........

I also know they won't maintain adequate fuel pressure, it was proven to me on another truck with the Xtreme at 1/2 throttle..........it would pull it down to ZERO pressure easily.

I know many people are running the FM100's with great success, so as long as you buy a proven pump then I think the worries are behind you.

so far i have only pulled it down to 9 psi. this pump is one step up from the red. i know time will only tell on how it lasts, but it right now has impressed me. more pressure than i need at this point in time.

how are those carter pumps working out?

I seem to have misplaced my pics......

I have them attached to the front spring perch on the driver side with a big hunk o steel and its on the outside of the frame. My bracket has an intragal peice of armor and Jeremy can attest to the fact its ugly):h

Hey Guys, I do not see any fuel heaters on the Fuel Managers. If you live in a cold weather area fuel heaters may be a must or gelling will occur and the fuel flow will stop at the filter paper. We are master distributors for FM and they do have fuel heaters available for the FM series.

the trucks already come with fuel heaters stock from the factory.

Knock on wood I havent had a problem. I thought about adding a heater though since like you said it is pretty easy to add them buggers to the fm100's you just screw out a lil plug and screw them in.
