Hello all,

It's that time again where the moderator gets to rant, I see a lot of new signatures and sign ons, this is a good thing, but also I am seeing a lot of familiar questions. For you new members welcome, but please do us a favor read the welcome notes posted in the sticky threads locked at the top, the FAQS, and learn to use the search feature. Once you have been on web boards for a while you will understand why I'm so anal about this, revisiting the same problem over and over again is tiring, we were all once newbies with the 6.2/6.5 so we understand why it is a relief to finally find someplace that you can get quality help.

In an effort to keep things lively and worth visiting all I/we ask is for you to not be lazy a lot of info you seek is the FAQs or probably in another thread archived meet us halfway at least, do some homework reading and searching so you can better understand the answer given.

Now for you guys/gals that have been around for a while I've got a gripe with you also, help me out :help: rather than just jumping up with an answer to the basics point new members to welcome and FAQ sticky's (unless you know this hasn't been covered before) don't make me keep being the villan this isn't hard. Since this is a free site to us we ought to help out a little by not eating bandwidth and taking up storage space answering that which has been answered before, guide a member to the right info but please refrain from lengthy threads on previusly covered ground.

New folks or even those that have been around for a while, the goal is to help you help yourself I'm not advocating we refuse an answer but that you try to find the answer yourself as reading some of these posts answers actually covers more information rather than if we give you the direct answer, if you don't understand a post, copy/paste the thread link and we can better answer your question.

Rant over & may the Diesel Gods smile on your ride

Dear Tim,

If I created the straw that broke the moderator's back, then I apologize. I HAVE read the FAQs, but a recent thread that I posted should have been worded a little better. The intent of the question was really to ask a NickTane-Filter-to-6.5TD adaptation question (as opposed to a general secondary filtration one), as I searched the FAQs AND the Nicktane forum and didn't find any matches to a '6.5' search.

My humble apologies.

Sincerely,

Rob :)

Nope not you several others that popped in while I was away on vacation, and have been seeing a trend developing just wanted to "Nip it in the Bud" as Deputy Fife would say.

On note of FAQS though; I am not all knowing so PM me with any FAQs you think are missing that should be there, or sart your own thread about the topic like I did for the Gas in Diesel so I can turn that thread into a FAQ.

On subject of Nicktane Filter that is mostly in DMAX world, I don't know many 6.2s or 6.5s that use it, overkill for our trucks IMO, as we don't run 20,000 psi fuel systems, 10 micron is plenty if you keep the "rocks & big chunks" out of the system with a pre-filter, a 30 to 10 to 2 would be best if you want maximum fuel cleanliness.

Aww, come on, you know we are a chatty bunch . . . ;)

I like to figure out a macro to just have all the links and pop them into the thread for reference material.

If you're looking for a pre-filter, check out Mercedes spare parts. There's a pre-filter on mine that made me actually think that it could be used nicely as a pre-filter in line before the lift pump on my truck. It costs only EUR 1.98.
