Running a 04.5 LLY, edge/attitude and 4 inch exhaust. Pull 8500# trailer in L1, otherwise run L 2 or 3 and don't race. What do you think about running like this without an egt probe?

I would highly recommend putting the probe in, especially with an LLY. You've got the rest of the setup anyways. It's easy to install and there aren't really any disadvantages of installing the probe.

What about the warranty issues? I have had the truck at the dealership 3 times in a little over a year for injector work. Who knows how many more times I will be in.

Dealers should not give your greaf about a pyrometer probe. They are not used exclusively for performance applications. In my opinion every diesel on the road should have a pyrometer. If they ask tell them you had a pyrometer guage installed because you wanted to make sure you weren't running too hot. They can't argue that. It would be similar to adding a transmission temperature guage on a vehicle without one.

Then you are saying that I should install another gauge other than the attitude, so the dealer will see a gauge and not just the the pyrometer and wiring when the attitude is removed.

You could tell them that you had a temporary one for a while just to see if everything was in check.

Pulling trailer to Yellowstone soon. Guess I should probably put one in. Thanks.

I've pulled a lot and don't have any EGT problems.

I run the predator on 40hp and run level 2 juice then when pulling drop the juice to 1.
Most EGT I've seen is 1400* w/ 15,000# behind on a 90*+ humid Ohio day.
The predator is known as an EGT heater, but should be comparable to level 2 juice.

Level 1 I don't see much problems.

I've got 5" w/ muffler and no kitty.

Isn't 1400 degress too high?

To me, much depends on how heavy a trailer and where you're towing. The big grades in the Rockies are alot different than the flatlands. You could be getting high temps for several minutes. Personally I stay within Edge's recommended 1350*.

Isn't 1400 degress too high?

that's w/ predator ( a known high temp box) and the juice, juice only it's lower.

It was more a test but others on here have gone close if not OVER 2000* for short times.
