: How long has people had the new style injectors with good luck?
BIGBEN2004 08-28-2010, 09:31 PM Just curious, my truck is getting eight new injectors installed in it on Monday and they are the first set. They are installing the new style injectors that are supposed to be better then the originals. I want to know how well these are lasting? I always read about people who have gone through 3 and 4 sets of injectors but I don't know when the new style injectors started being installed. Just want to know when I should expect the new ones to start to give me problems. My original set only lasted 98,000 miles.
dodavison 08-29-2010, 10:17 AM I would like to know too, got about 2K miles on my new ones. How bad were your old injectors and did they replace them free?
Josh2002cc 08-29-2010, 11:39 AM I don't believe GM ever used a "upgraded" injector. It may be the dealer told you that instead of saying "we are going to put the same piece of shit injectors in that we are taking out" but I could be wrong.
I also dont know of any upgraded injectors, the first set went out about 38K then replaced and now have 88K and so far still running strong. I change fuel filter each 15K and every once in awhile dump in some 2 cycle oil.
Rigit1 08-29-2010, 12:24 PM I had all 8 injectors changed at 74K. I now have 160,000 and they are still going strong. I replace my fuel filter at 10K because I just want to make sure I keep the cleanest fuel as possible going to the injectors. I also use Power Service diesel clean every fill up.
Blk04HD 08-29-2010, 01:56 PM Originals replaced at 103k and the truck now has 143k on it. Truck now has auxilary filter pre oem and so far so good. Truck runs better than ever.
thefermanator 08-29-2010, 02:55 PM LB7 injectors were in fact upgraded in AUGUST of 08, this has been discussed here several times now. They put a hardened and chromed ball seat in the injectors to try and help with the wear that was causing the leakage and white smoking at idle. I've had mine in since August of 09 and only have about 15K on em so far. I did notice that the engine got a bit louder wit hthe new injectors, but this could have just been due to the new injectors giving a complete burn now.

Mine are getting replaced at a independent mechanics shop not GM. My truck is out of the warranty by the years not mileage since I bought it in May of 2002. I don't know what shape they were in since they failed within 40 miles of the shop. All has been good before that with oil annalist showing no fuel or coolant in the oil as of only 1500 miles ago. The truck never smoked or ran poorly. All at once on my way home from a job it started idleing rough and my oil pressure dropped and then it started blowing raw diesel fuel out of the blow by tube so much that it soaked the underneith of my truck and trailer and I watched the fuel gauge drop. I don't think I will see or feel any difference with the new injectors but i will see maybe tomorrow if it does get done.

Interesting, my parents '02 actually got noticeably quieter, and began to start better with the new injectors...

This too I noticed when I received set number 3 in Feb of 2010. The 2nd set was installed in August of 2008 and lasted 56K miles. This last set now has 17K miles so far and runs quiet and strong.
