What is normal oil pressure on these trucks? Mine is hanging around 30 when it is warm and idling. I asked dealer and I also checked few other new truck they had over there and they were all around 30. Can this be the cause of overheating that soem people talk about it here on this Site?
Thanks.

Welcome (I'm new too). Try doing searches on your questions before asking a question -- there's plenty of posts on oil pressure and yours sounds normal, even higher than mine...

Yes, 30psi is perfectly normal and fine.

Does anyones oil pressure run 1 hash mark above red marks while idleing? Today I thought I heard the DIC chime 3 times, but I wasnt quick enough to read the display. I thinking it might have been low oil pressure. My oil pressure use to read 30-60 psi, but now its 15-60. Im starting to think maybe its more than just hot weather. I was running mobil 1 5-40, today I switched back to Rotella T, but it made no difference in pressure.

Mine runs as low as what you are saying. It seems to be between 15-25 lbs at idle. Old wisdom says 10lbs for every 1000rpm so it shouldnt be anything to worry about. I dont necessarill like it running that low but is seems to be the nature of the beast.

What weight Rotella are you running now? Personally, I would avoid any oil the has a base weight of 5 unless I was in Canada or Alaska & running at below zero temps.
You may have a sticking oil filter bypass issue. It wouldn't hurt to have it checked out.

I would at least get it checked at the dealer before you leave. If it is bad, then at least you won't be sitting beside the road somewhere! -:t
If they say that it is normal, go & have a good time. :)
If something does happen, then you will have it on record that you brought it to their attention. ;)

Does anyone know if the DIC detects low oil pressure, will it auto clear or have to be manually reset?

The guage on my buddy's '02 LB7 reads to 80 psi, so the midpoint is 40 psi. Last week I was riding in his truck and noticed that the pressure never fell below 40, even when hot and idling. On the road it seemed to run between 60 and 80 all the time.
My truck is an '04 LLY and the guage reads to 120, so the midpoint is 60 psi. I am using 15w40 Rotella oil, and when the engine is hot and idling, the pressure is about 30 psi or even a bit less. On the road, it is always under 60 psi (the midpoint) unless the rpms are above 2500. It is usually at about 45 psi at 2000 rpm. When the truck was new, the oil pressure seemed to be at least 10 psi higher at all rpms. I was using 5w40 in the winter but switched back to 15w40 thinking maybe that was the cause of the drop in pressure, but it wasn't. Anyone else notice this? I am now considering having the dealer check the sending unit to see if it is bad. It doesn't seem like it should change that much from when it was new.
