I have a friend thats been having problems, so i told him i would check his balance rates for him. So i decided to practice on mine, since i have been out of the efilive game for awhile. (Gotta get back in gearhttp://www.duramaxdiesels.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)

this is what i came up with.

actual rail pressure 5934
avg
cylinder 1 -0.44
cylinder 2 -0.52
cylinder 3 -0.34
cylinder 4 4.55
cylinder 5 0.28
cylinder 6 -0.41
cylinder 7 -0.44
cylinder 8 -0.47

this was done at idle in drive, looks like cylinder 4 is about 4.mm off?

i've read through pages of searches but the only real info i've found is that is bad if your 7 or so off. could someone break this down for me?

The specs are as taylowbok said. And your/his #4 is bad. Does it smoke at idle?

Can you get to 23,000psi at WOT? A Stock tune would be good to test that WOT run.

why would you say my number 4 is bad? i did the test in drive, i thought that gives me +-6 to play with? you saying i should throw my stock tune in and see and check AFR pressure?

and only a touch of white smoke on a cold morning, when i throttle it. but the black smoke overpowers it pretty quick.

i had an injector out by plus 4 in drive and it is causing me issue's the tech at the dealer talked to me for half an hour when i brought all my fuel specs in and he said number 5 was definately my issue (it was out by 4 in drive) also, were the tests done with a warm engine or hot?

cold only ran for about a minute before testing. haven't noticed any issues. what were you haveing?

they should be tested at full operating temperatures. you will probably notice them a little bit worse when they are warm. my issue is black smoke, slightly rough idle, loud engine, and audible missfire that can't be detected inside the truck, nore does it set any codes. there is no fuel in my oil.

well i guess i'll put my stock tune in it and try it operating temp. post numbers later thanks jon.

If it runs fine and doesn't smoke white at idle, I wouldn't loose any sleep about it.

What are you guys using to check your injector balance rates?

If it says "mm" beside the "balance rate" you are looking at then you are seeing the pulse width rate, not the balance rates.

check the ballance rates when warm not at cold start up. i recomend using either efi live, a tech 2 or genisys.

How about the Edge CTS? It says to check rates cold on the screen. Mine suck cold, but get good when warm.
Like 7 on 1 cyl. cold, drops down to 3 ish when fully warmed.

I use efi, i see the pid's for pulse width shows unit's as "MS"
