It actually works a lot better with the nav than the standard UC6 (6-disc) radio...with the nav you can select whether you want to mute RSE audio (and use head phones), just play RSE audio on the front speakers. Or just play it on the back speakers. Or play it on both. I dont think you can do that with teh UC6.

What do you think about this unit to connect to my existing system?

you would have to do the lux amp conversion in order to use that headunit.

Will the harnesses plug up if I get the Lux amp? Thanks in advance.

I have done this and have that exact headunit in my truck now. The LUX amp requires you to make wiring changes at the amp connectors in the console. It is not difficult.

There are several threads on this board on this very subject. You can search for: lux amp

There is also a 30 page thread detailing this conversion on gm-trucks.com forums. Here is a link:http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28030 .

How do you like it? Is the sound quality substantially better? Can you watch DVD's going down the road?

Are all the navagation units LUX? Or is there a Lux and a standard (for lack of a better discrp)?

Will the rear controls from a 2005 6 disc syst work with the nav units?

Can Nav unit and radio function at the same time????

Thanks,

Roy

Yes, there is a "non-lux" nav unit. It works with the standard Bose system that comes in the LT trucks. There is no nav unit that works with the base (non-Bose) sound system, unless you buy a special unit from JP Customs.

JPCustoms sells a touchscreen unit that will work in non-Bose equipped trucks. He says he is NOT converting the trucks to a Bose system. GM does make a headunit that will work in non-Bose trucks but I have not been able to find the part number. You could try calling model electronics or specmo. New units will cost ~$1600.
