My diesel mechanic said to make sure I look on the pump to avoid buying ethanol in the diesel. Apparantly, he said it is a new practice. I have been looking but so far I haven't seen any new stickers.

Anyone know anything about this?

I think he's getting all the stickers mixed up at the fuel pump. Never heard of that.

I don't know why they would put an alcohol into a fuel designed to be burned like diesel is. If they wanna dilute it there are other substances to use that wouldn't kill diesel fuel systems...but alcohol will harm a HPCR fuel pump IMO.

I have to agree but he insists this is no bull. If you Google ethanol in diesel, you will find the Government has been testing such. I hope this turns out to be a false alarm.

Hmm well all be. However I just read a few tidbits on it:

Increased risk of explosion, even compared to gasoline
Decreased maximum power
Decreased fuel injection pump/injector life
Substantial fueling station modifications
Only approved for centrally fueled fleet vehicles

Don't look like its going public anytime soon.

Yikes, I try to do everything to keep any type of alcohol out of my tanks...ugh! Why is it that these people, who know so little about fuels, are so obsessed with making us use fuels that are less efficient? I thought the idea was to consume less fuel. Believe me, if ethanol or methanol were more efficient (contained more energy per volume than diesel), I would be using it.
