Last weekend I had the Edge/Juice installed and also someone stole my cat and replaced it all with a 4" pipe and a 5" tip. I wasn't too upset to say the least. Here is my problem:
1. I have been running the Edge in stage 3
2. Tonight my wife and I went to dinner and then drove for ice cream, while driving there I got on the gas a little hard. After getting there my transmission shifted very hard and loud (while down shifting) and people were looking at me from the ice cream place outside.
Right after that I got the Malfunction Indicator Lamp on solid...I think Fingers can fix this?????
Then when we left it felt like my tranny was shifting really hard and you could here it when you went from N to D.....taking off felt like it was slow to go.
After getting home and being extremely pissed off....I got on here and read about Edge/Allison lockdown mode. So I went and restarted my truck after about 15 minutes and the Malfunction light was gone and the hard shifting/clunk in between N and D went away. Drove off instantly the hard shifting returned and after about 10 min. the Indicator light came back on.
HELP ME PLEASE....I HOPE NOTHING MAJOR. SHOULD I REMOVE THE EDGE PRIOR TO TAKING IT TO THE SLEARSHIP IF THAT IS WHERE I HAVE TO TAKE IT?
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drive it aggressive for awhile. My guess? You've been driving very mellow, then you hammered it, and the trans slipped a bit.
You might have limped your trans. Bring up the gear selection option on your attitude monitor. It will display which gear your trans is in. It should read first gear when you are stopped and the truck is in drive. If it reads third or fourth while you are stopped, you limped the trans. To clear limp mode you have to cycle your ignition on 3-5 times. The light will go away after a few more cycles or after your codes are cleared with a tech 2. It won't be a bad idea to have someone read which code it threw with a tech 2 also. Good luck.

Are the SES and Malfunction light the same? Can a missing cat cause this? This light came on at the same time I appreantly limped my tranny. Checked the gear I was in w/Juice/Attitude and it indicated 4th while stopped and in drive. How can eliminate this from happening? Get the code cleared off...

Do I need to go to AutoZone or Stealership to get the limping to stop? How do I know what caused the limping?

yep, same light.. if you don't have the means I'd just go to an Autozone and they can scan it for free so you know what the code is, then they can erase it. Once you know the exact code you can come back here and do the research on how to prevent it.

I am merging this thread with your original.. Just post in one section and you'll get answers. I moved your first one because it was pointing to the Edge as your question.

You can prevent this by turning down the Edge and not being heavy on the peddle. Once they've limped it's easier to do it agian. The damage is already done. The clunk was probably the TC being forced to unlock. Mine did the same thing. Time to look at a tranny upgrade.

Should I still go see if the tranny or the cat through on the SES light? Any suggestions to stop/cut down on the limp mode by tranny until/if I do something? I've heard somepeople have had it 1 or 2 like me and then never again. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

I have the same problem right now. The scanner gave me a 0733 -(A/T 3rd gear ratio problem)
My symptoms are exactly the same. She felt like i had a 9000 stall converter in her from a stop. I cleared the codes and dissconnected the edge...all is well so far. I'm gonna hook the edge back up and see if it's all better...otherwise....back to the dealer-:t

I guess my advice is bad. I just didn't think you could actually limp an LLY on Edge Level 3.

This is what it gave me any suggestions? The SES light came on again on my way home.....got to take it to the stealership?
These TSB's are related to each other:
Investigation into DTC P1711/P0872 has shown that in most cases trucks that set this code have had a cracked transmission adapter housing. Bulletin 03-07-30-031 contains details on the adapter housing repair. Cracks in the adapter housing can allow dirt and sand to enter the transmission resulting in stuck shift valves in the valve body. To reduce the possibility of setting a DTC P1711/P0872 when repairing a cracked adapter housing, the following five steps should taken:
<LI type=1>Clean the transmission oil pan thoroughly inside and out. <LI type=1>Replace the fluid filter located inside the oil pan (P/N 29537965). <LI type=1>Replace the spin-on fluid filter (P/N 29539579). <LI type=1>Thoroughly flush the transmission cooler and lines using TransFlow tool J 45096.
Be sure that the transmission fluid is refilled to put the oil level in the "cold" range with the engine running and the transmission in park. Do not shift from park into a forward or reverse range until the oil is in this "cold" range.
By reducing the amount of dirt and sand inside the transmission, the chances of setting this DTC will be greatly reduced. The following checks help in determining the if shift valve "E" is stuck in the bore or shift valve "C" has a oversize bore or if the condition is related to the wiring.
Cycle the ignition key to the run position with the engine off, the TFP (Transmission Fluid Pressure) switches "C" "D" and "E" should all read OFF on the Tech II scan tool. Upon starting the engine the TFP switches "C" "D" and "E"should change from OFF to ON The above 2 steps indicate that the TFP switch, wiring and TCM are functioning properly Once the transmission reaches a Steady State first (1st) gear the TFP switches should read"C" OFF "D" ON "E" OFF, if "E" does NOT change to OFF once the transmission has reached a steady state first (1st) gear the "E" shift valve may be stuck in the bore or the "C" shift valve is loose in the bore causing a bleed action to the "E" valve. This will force the "E" valve into the ON position once this occurs DTC P1711 or P0872 will set after 2 seconds. The valve body assembly should be checked for a stuck valve and rear cover should be replaced (if cracked) as required for this condition. The valve body should be torqued to 100 inch pounds. Over torquing the Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch (TFP) may result in shorting out the TFP and setting DTC P1711 or P0872.
If the "E" switch changes to OFF, the condition may be intermittent and the DTC flow chart should be followed to see if another condition can be found for the DTC P1711 or P0872.
.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.

Some customers may comment that the transmission slips, has a delayed engagement, or cold hesitation on the first start-up after sitting for a period of time.
Cause
Torque converter bleed down over an extended period of non-usage, usually over a week, may cause this condition.
Correction
Use the service procedure shown below to access and change the torque converter relief spring and lube regulator spring in the front support assembly.
