I am thinking about getting a lift pump for my truck because i keep throwing low fuel rail pressure codes. But i heard that getting a lift pump will add to much fuel and i can toast my trans. Is that a worry with what setup im running on my truck in my signature?
Thanks Jimmy

I have no clue who told you it will toast your trans. A liftpump has absolutly nothing to do with your trans its fuel related. By installing a liftpump you increase the relibilty of the CP3 injection pump. It helps keep the CP3 from having to work so hard to keep adaquate fuel supplied to itself. Depending on what liftpump kit your looking at you can also gain some added filteration as well. Kennedy,Airdog II, FASS, are some really good choices judging by the majority on here. Kennedy has my vote.

Many Marine grade lift pumps will work fine and save money over all the bling added to those others. PPE is a good one and works right in the preset psi the truck needs. Just a way to save a bit of money if you want to at least see the definite advantage it makes. The soft fuel lines from factory are the other issue under cab to filter braided hose is fix for that. Up to you as to what it starts with a pump and lines is around $300 if you buy right. Marine grade pumps are rated for diesel apps. as you watch details...

Good tip!

And to the OP, a lift pump won't cure you're high pressure problems (low rail pressure codes) unless your truck is sucking the factory hoses shut during high fuel demand.

PureFlows Raptor pumps are a slightly cheaper option for a lift pump as well if you don't want the added filtration of the AirDog units. I can help you with one of those as well if needed.

I have a raptor 150gph lift pump and just built my own filtration unit.

How do you know if the lines are being sucked shut?

Is the extra filtration that important?

Moniter the vacuum of supply side of the fuel system when the fault occurs.
