The dealer has my truck ready to pick up but I planned on doing a little towing this weekend. Should I hold off on the new truck until next week?
(I have an '04 2500HD, gasser now that is being traded in)
I have an enclosed 28 ft trailer. It is about 3500 pounds and is partialy loaded. I bet it is 7000-8000 pounds now.
Can (or should) I tow this with my NEW truck? I need to take my trailer to my new house, 60 mile flat run. (70 degree temps)
I will also need to do the trip again in a couple weeks. I had planned to put some miles on the new d/max before that trip.
So, when it is safe to haul?

Wait get soem miles under it first. The rear end needs to seat. Drive a while, pull over let the gears cool down do it again, let the gears get up to temp thn cool down. Take it easy first 500 miles.

Ditto what Kendall69 adviseds. Owners manual says 500 as well. Some on the DP will say hitch her up and go from the dealer lot. Your truck, your choice! Mine had 500 miles before towing, and while towing first time I varied speeds and no more than 55mph for the first couple hundred miles.

Just JJ's funky system. Enjoy your truck, and welcome to the DP if I haven't said hello already. So many new members with the GM employee discount program. Interesting handle, take the time to go to the Off Topic forum and post under "What's in a Name". Inquiring minds want to know! lol JJ
