I Currently Have An Afe Stage Ii Intake On My Truck, See My Signature For Other Extra's............i Didnt Really Notice Any Improvements In Power, Acceleration, Temp., Mileage, Etc...... After The Install. It Only Smokes Less Now, And I Get A Lot Of Bursting With My Different Stack Settings. Would I Be Better Off Going Back To The Stock Intake System, And Possibly Gain Better Performance And Mileage With The Stock Setup And Just Sell My Afe Setup.

They are supposed to add about 10HP give or take, which isnt to noticeable. It helps your truck breath better..the key to more power is more air...I would keep it.

Some Threads On This Site Indicate That The Stock Air Setup Acually Flows Better That All The After Market Setusp Such As Afe And K & N

Diesels don't get as much benefit as gassers do with the air intake systems. I'd stick with the stock filter setup. It gives you the best filtration which IMHO is the most important. It doesn't restrict that much more than the aftermarket filters that let all the crap in.

Larry - I don't think the stock setup flows better..However, the stock system is better at trapping dirt, dust, etc...

I noticed no performance increase either when I switched. I raced before and after and no difference in performance.

But there is a nice difference in Turbo Whine!!! :) :)

I just finished a pretty good pull through the rocky mountains and its the hardest I've ever worked my engine. One thing I did notice is that the filter minder was sucked into the 80% mark and I know the filter is not dirty. That would imply a serious flow restriction at full load from the stock air box.

so how could you see the filter minder while driving?

The filter minder has a ratcheting mechanism that will hold the plunger in at its furthest most point it reached while driving. You just have to push the plunger to reset it back to zero.
