I had 100 bales on my tandem trailer last night.. Got stuck in the field.. Transfer case would not engage. Made a grinding noise like it was trying to engage but would not. Front driveshaft did not turn. Had to get my Wife to pull me out with her Dodge... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/mad.gif Can I adjust the transfer case engagement lever? Suggestions?

Might be that the wear pads on the shift fork ends are worn out and that is not allowing the fork to move the sliding collar enough to engage the gears.

Adjust the linkage. Had the same problem on my 94 with a new t-case.

It's been a long time, but from what I remember you disconnect the lever from the t-case and put the t-case in 4-HI. Then put the lever in 4-Hi and aline the bolt on the linkage with the hole on the lever. Yes?

Transfer case was in adjustment, found front driveshaft sliding yoke stripped, and splines on driveshaft also stripped. I assume that gas and diesel use the same front driveshaft?...Transfer case is a NP 241 I believe.

I don't know about that CR I think it was just worn out. Trying to find one now.. rebuild is $275.00 the only used one I can find is $400.00 go figure?

That slip joint wears on most all shafts I've seen on all type of 4 wheel drives. Once you replace it just keep up on the maintenance item on it. Seems to extend it life time.

Also I moved this to the driveline section and out of the 6.5 Engine section

Mine did the exact same thing on my '94 K3500
