you will lose some space in the center console storage area. The big pocket needs to be cut. the center console storage area is reduced to be about 6in deep instead of the stock 10" or 12". The stealthbox sounds incredible.

How much does it cost?

I put a www.subthump box in tonight and it kicks some serious A**!!!

Very comparable to my two 12s in a ported box in my last truck, a Tahoe.

So when the JL website says that you wont loose any storage space they aren't exactly telling it right? I had a stealthbox in my Z and my single 10 sounded way better than 2 12s (In my opinion). How does it sound with the bass right there next to you?

I don't think you read it correctly. No you don't lose any cab space, yes you lose your center console storage space. The center console storage is only about 1 1/2" deep after installing the stealthbox. I was thinking of trying one of these (still am) because I need for my rear seats to lay flat and they don't seem to do that with under the seat boxes. If you read the installation instructions you will see that the center console and storage tray are cut. So, you really can't remove the stealthbox once it is installed. Would be nice to get the opinion of someone who has installed this box.

I just dont see how they can get enough CU for a box in the center console.

I took mine apart to find the OEM sub.

I would almost not waste the money on it and go with a subthump behind the seat box. You'll still be able to fold the seats down with this type of setup.

I almost got it, until I realized that I have only ever folded the seats down once, and I knew I was going to have to do it.

So, if I was going to have to fold them down again, I'd simply yank the downfire box out. Since I left the OEM bose sub in, I still have bass without the other box.

As I look at the stealth box, I don't see how it can fit in the trucks that have the bose systems.

Yank out your cup holder and look in there, you'll find the BOSE amp and other wiring harness. (Mine has my strobe light controller and power supply in there.)

Sure looks like a tight fit to me.

I am curious if anyone has photos of their install and how it sounds though. I read their install guide, Geesh! That is some serious modification for this puppy. It BETTER sound good for that much work.

I stopped at a shop here in town today to check about a box of some kind for my truck. They had a Yukon in there with the stealth box and it loses no room just the rear ducts. So is the Yukon console same as crew cab sure looks like it to me. It does sound pretty nice, I didnt get to listen to very much since it was a customers car. 500 bucks though for box with sub. The big part of box in picture above is in the front under the cubby holes in the dash in front of cupholders. I am seriously considering this box now as I like to be able to lay the seats all the way down.

I have the stealth box for the flip down consol in my truck, it has a single 10" and is running off a 250x1 JL amp. sounds awsom, not a siingle rattle not even the stuff in the consol makes any noise, just clean bass:ro) also totaly stealth, most people can't even figure where the bass is comming from, they all look under the EXT cab seat first, the WTF followed by a WthereF.

I need a box too. I have an 02 ext cab and I wanted the subthump box for under the rear seat. Do you have the ext. cab or CC? Did you get the 10" holes or 12" holes? How does it sound and what subs are you using? If you don't mind how much was the box including shipping? Thanks for the help

The StealthBox I just looked at and the place Tweeter Ect (usually a little high on stuff) said it would be about $650 and will still need the amp, I went with a Alpine 12" type R and making my own custom box instead for my Reg cab.

I put a down fire box under the rear seat that holds 2 tens. I found the box on the internet at supercrewsound .com, the box is like 129.00 with out speakers. I used to jl audio 10s. It rocks. they make a box also that fits behind the seat that will hold two 8s or 10s. I put in a kenwood cd player and just have a sony 760 watt amp running the subs and the factory bose speakers running off the deck and factory amp. sounds incredible. factory speakers sound pretty good just needs more bass. I'am going to replace all the factory speakers next.

I built my own custom box for a JL 10W6V2 Under the rear passenger seat driver side, I managed to sqeak out 1.09 cubic feet Ported and its louder than hell. I sugges doin it yourself if you can, My box cost about $35 and 2 hours(mostly measuring) and is built to spec with real wood. the hardest part is finding carpet to match

I did like Jazzman and built my own box. I orginally did this install in my 02 C1500 extra cab, but I'm carring it over to my 05 CC DA. I bought another front center seat frame and hacked it up. I built the box out of MDF to fit the space between the front seats, yet still retain the storage compartment. The seat will no longer flip up and down, but I didn't care. I didn't want anyone sitting on my sub box. I ended up with a 1.2 cu ft box for a JL 12W6. The rest of the system consists of an Alpine 7995 head feeding a Linear Power PA-II Pre-Amp. The front feeds a Linear Power Q50 4 channel. The rear feeds a Linear Power DPS200. The first 2 channels of the Q50 feed Image Dynamics Chameleon 5 1/4 in the kickpanels. The other 2 channels feed a pair of old school Kicker Competition 6 1/2's. The sub out of the Q50 goes into a fader then into another DPS200 to feed the 12. The rear speakers are going to be the Alpine component 6 made in Denmark.

I entered the old truck in several local contest and came away with several best sound quality and best in show awards. My system was never designed to be a ground pounder or a 'see what I got, bling, bling' system. It was just a simple system with an extremely clean install that couldn't be seen, except for the head unit and pre-amp. Most folks never figured out where the sub was. I was able to pull the entire system out of the old truck and install the factory system and no one could tell there had ever been an aftermarket system in the truck.

The 05 system will be the same way, except with more Dynamat to quiten the cab down some more. It also helps that I'm good friends with the Linear Power repair person who also happend to have a hand in designing the equipment. Ray did some power and sound quality modifications to all my Linear Power equipment :D .

I'll get some pics as I do the install in the 05.

Doesn't your amp get really hot? It doesn't look like much air can circulate in the console.

Just curious how you came to this conclusion. JL makes some of the best subs on the market with the greatest sound quality. Care to elaborate?

I have a reg cab so space is limited thats why I chose JL stealth box they are the only one that I know that makes a box for the console. The place i got the box recommended the amp but I did not like his price so I got it on ebay. No reason why,I was overwhelmed with all the options, kind of hard to tune. AS far as heat no problems yet most if the insides of the console are gone.

Its just like the big 3 debate it mostly comes down to personal preference, but unless you’re a competitor and put them to the test it’s mostly marketing hype. But JL is far from the best, good yes. But better can be had for less $$$, and SQ is 90% install not equipment. If you are really interested in more info do a web search several times JL has been shame by "Lesser subs".
