I have an 05 K2500 6.0 as a work truck. On my 03 I was able to de-program the seat belt chime. This 05 dings when I drive away and then again a few miles down the road. I cant find anything in the book about turning it off. Is there a way?

Yeah, it's easy!
Put on your seatbelt.

My 04 Ford F250 (Which was a pile of junk) allowed you to program this "feature" out. I have not figured out how/if my 05 Sierra will allow this. (Please keep your safety comments to yourself). We have a ranch and at times need to drive slowly without seat belts. The seatbelt reminder is a pain. My solution took about an hour in the shop tonight. All I did was trace the stock belt out onto a piece of aluminum, then cut and filed to the right thickness. A quick polish finished it off. I like this solution because it makes you think when to use it. It is an active solution rather than a passive one that happens without any thought. Yes I could have gotten one from the dealer but this was more rewarding.
Thanks,
John

Just wear the belt. It's surprising how many roll over accidents occur on I-80 here in NE Nevada and how many folks are ejected from and crushed in the incident. See a few of these and you learn to love your seat belts.
I like my chime....it reminds me and it only lasts for a couple seconds. It is a good idea. I rolled a truck in I90 in WI and the seatbelt saved my life. Now I try to wear it all the time. I always forget to put my seatbelt back on when I get out and leave the truck running, then get back in and go. The chime reminds me. I can see that it would get annoying if you were using the truck on the farm.

i ended up taking the seats out for some stereo intall, and i forgot to hook up the little wiring harness on the drivers seat. i notice it several months later and pluged it back in. my ding came back, so i unpluged it and no more ding! nothing.

If unplugging the wiring harness doesn't work, just find the wires that lead to your seat belt and splice them together. It worked on my lawn mower.
