What are the 07 duramax goin to have as far as HP/TQ? I hear that ford is coming out with a 6.4L twin turbo so what's chevy going to do?

That's ford for you, small engine/big boost.

I haven't heard anything about the new Duramax but I'm sure GM will come up with something to keep in the game. I personally think that if the new 6spd Allison can hold the power, GM will turn up the Duramax and put down some serious numbers.

GM will have to redesign completely to stay in the game. They are pushing their limits already with the EPA. The twin turbo set up will run cleaner utilizing all that fuel before it makes it to the pipe. That thing will be impressive. Hopefully Ford won't jack the body up too much.

Yeah, leave it to Ford; leading the way while the others play catchup!!!:D

Nope. The existing design is pretty good.

GM's design was the first to make emissions, and continues to stay ahead of the game. In this respect, it's Dodge that has been lagging. Ford? Let's just say that they had calibration issues with the 6.0 and have got them sorted out.

Dual turbo's will push the already expensive Ford engine up even higher. Will Ford go to 6.4 with dual's? Depends on whether Navistar and Ford do not part ways first.

Keep in mind GM was the first to hit 300HP in a 50-state Turbo Diesel. Dodge had 215HP at the time, and Ford 235.

Well GM as much as I love them had better get back in the game first by fixing the Overheating issue some of seem to have.

Always have been a GM person and likely always will be.

Keep in mind that not all the LLY's are overheating, and the 6.0's are having issues cooling as well.

With all due respect I believe GM may start lagging whether they want to or not due to financial issues. As for Ford and International parting ways, doubtful. That would be financial suicide for International. They created the market for these motors. They can't stay in the Big Rig market too long with Cat and Cummins and now Mercedes. As for the Torqueshift; having owned both trannys respectively, it is a far better transmission all around. Granted they will not last under mods. Suncoast can fix that now. I too spit out 2 trannys in 23k on my PSD But still out pulled my lly with more mods!! Go figure, heavier truck, less mods, weak tranny, = 72 mph pulling 15000#over Donner Summit vs. 48mph!! Oh yeah, didn't overheat either!!

Keep in mind that not all the LLY's are overheating,

I wonder if the ones that are not overheating are not pulling a trailer, camper, or climbing hills in the heat of the summer.
Mine was NOT overheating climbing empty, then when i went over the same hills, same ambient temps, same week ( But loaded with a camper) the temps shot through the roof.
Sure once I got to lower ambient temps of 80 and on flat ground it cooled down, so must I limit my travels to where it's cooler than the Southwest, because I purchased a LLY?

At 17k combined, climbing to 7,000ft at 75mph in 100 deg heat, mine does not overheat. That does not mean others don't, or whether mine might with a heavier load. I won't know unless I get a heavier rig.

I wouldn't expect to see a twin turbo PSD, that would be so damn expensive. They are going to bump the engine up to 6.4 from 6.0. The reasons for so many problems from Ford is that they are trying to get the maximium amount of HP and TQ from there engines and trannys. I'm a big GM guy but I would love to see a Cummins with a Allison behind it in a GM truck or the option of a CAT. I've had the DMAX for a week and I'm very impressed with it but I think I might have some bad injectors. I hear some nasty pinging at idle sometime, kind of what I heard from my last gasser.

Ford will go to the 6.4L with Twins as it's already in testing for the past year. It is not a reworked 6.0L it's all new. GM will also stay in the game as the new Duramax engine is slated to come out with the '07 model year as well. Where Dodge will be when the dust settles......... who knows. Rumor has it there are quite a few trucks running with a MB diesel around Detriot.

If it wasn't for GM and the Duramax, diesels wouldn't even be close to the power and technology they are at now. The Duramax was a revolution with its power and quietness. Ford and Dodge both played catch up for close to three years. As for Ford and International parting ways that could very well happen. After all of the problems associated with the introduction of the 6.0 (over 26,000 recalled and over 600 buybacks as of early 2004) They broke their contract with international for designing another diesel for their smaller pickups and eventually had to pay International a couple of million for the design and research and broken contract.

Nothing is released until it's released. There is a 650HP twin-turbo Corvette with mfr's plates on it driving around for the last year and half. There was a 2001 302 CI Camaro Z-28(destroked LS6 engine) made by GM.

Will Ford go with twins on their pickup diesel? VVT does what twins do at a much lower cost. The Ford engine compartment is already cramped to the point of stupidity.

We'll see. They pulled the plug on the Cobra and Lightning.

Personally i ahd both ford and chevy trucks. In my information he ford tranny is better and towed my 13000 trailer much easier. I have an early 03 ford 6.0L and never gave me one problem? Am goin to buy a new chevy pretty soon though to see how that is and maybe a new 6.4L ford to test them both out.

Nothing is released until it's released. There is a 650HP twin-turbo Corvette with mfr's plates on it driving around for the last year and half. This is a project car built by LPE. There was a 2001 302 CI Camaro Z-28(destroked LS6 engine) made by GM. This was another project car and it was built by two companies Westech Automotive and TTS

While I know lots of cars/trucks get built and never see the light of day the Ford 6.4L twin is in final validation at Ford so it's a pretty sure bet for 2007. The new Duramax motor is also a sure bet for 2007. Now when it comes to Dodge no one seems to know for sure at this point and if they do they are sure not talking.
