: Rusting Gas & Brake Pedal Brackets?

Anyone ever seen rust - lots of surface rust, on the interior brake and gas pedal brackets of their D-Max?

Our one year old D-Max (18,000 miles) is stored under a carport and there's no other rust on the interior or exterior of the vehicle. This is very strange, as though the brake and gas pedal brackets were never prime-coated, and now the rust is bleeding through the black paint.

Kind of odd to open the door of a pristine truck and seeing brown rusty pedal brackets - just looking at the pedals you would think the truck is ten years old.

They are not treated metal, just bare. Same as the dash supports.

Mine too! and I have found water driping from the brake pedal several times in the winter/spring when it rained hard but can;t figure where it comes from.
