Hi all. I have not been here for a long time. I have a 2001 2 wheel drive with about 140,000 miles on it. I have not driven it for along time but my Daughter has been using it.I drove it the other day and I thought my teeth were going to come out when I hit the brakes. Daughters response was "I didn't think it was that bad".
I pulled the brakes today and there is plenty of pad so I figure the rotors are warped. I had them turned and did a test run and it still shacks bad. I noticed the yellow bump stop is contacting the lower control arm, I this normal? Driving @ 50-60 mph is pretty smooth but I have a shake when coasting down @ 20mph. But with the brakes on it is down right violent. Any help would be appreciated.

It is normal for the yellow jounce stop to be in contact with the lower control arm. The problem could be tires. Rotate the tires front to back a see if anything changes. If it's better, then replace the tires and have the front end aligned. If nothing changes have a mechanic or front end shop look at the suspension components. It would be normal to have worn ball joints or tie rod ends with so many miles on the truck. Most shops don't charge for an estimate of what needs to be repaired in cases like this. I'd also consider new shocks at that this point.
